My #1 favorite is black gospel. Anyone else familiar w/ Gospel at Colonus? I haven't heard kd lang for a few years now, but she had one of the best voices around, when you're talking pure vocal talent. Did anyone see her on the Grammys awhile back when she did Roy Orbison's "Crying"? Blew the roof off. As for Brokeback (Keith, rest in peace), my theory - a lot of straight guys are comforted by Queer Eye, etc. and uneasy about Brokeback because (shudder) in the movie, YOU CAN'T TELL BY LOOKING if a guy's gay. If that guy's gay and looks like a "regular" guy, and EYE look like a regular guy..... well, we gotta keep that trash away from the young people. :) DH is in an original heavy rock/light metal band and also in a rock cover band, so I hear loads of that music and like lots of it. qylliam - The Chieftans - are you talking about the Irish group? I got to hear them one time in concert. They were great. Anyone else familiar w/ Sweet Honey in the Rock? A capella group that does original music, black gospel, reggae, etc. Arthur, many of the band names are new to me, too. What genre is Cake? "Classic" country is terrific - Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline - rarely the crossover stuff. Some bluegrass. Shady Character - who does Bollywood *style*? There was certainly nothing stupid about that question! Welcome, Maryl. You have to go over to the Gallery section and look at some of the awesome collections folks have posted there. A few internet sellers have great Sansevierias, but for the most part, there is no combined, concerted effort to market or appreciate these plants. You sorta fall into love with them the more you see the different varieties. Then you seek out sources for your 'addiction'. I found a great source in my local Cactus & Succulent Society. Which is where I buy most of mine. I started with a pup off of my grandmothers plant, and now I have sixteen different varieties. Nearly all of them are easy growers, the hahnii varieties being a bit trickier. You can see a great photo of a S. hahnii in the upper corner of the start page. These are also known as 'birdnest' types. They are smaller in stature and more sensitive to water than many other varieties. You can go to your local library and request they bring in a copy of B. Juan Chahanian's "The Sansevieria Trifasciata Varieties". Great color pictures. There is another wonderful book by Hermoine Stover, can't remember the name, nor do I own it. Its been out of print for awhile. Found a copy in my local C&S library and enjoyed checking it out for a month. I'm not sure if libraries do that anymore, but when I was a young girl in a small town, I could request that our local library bring in from bigger libraries, copies of books I wished to read. As long as I had the author and title, pretty soon a copy would be there for me to check out. Our discussion pages go back for 10 pages, with 30 posts per page. Riv...I'm envious. Would I love to play Oblivion. Gaming is a great escape...and we all need that. Life just gets to be too much. Some need to escape more than others...what's new? Back to Starforce. Watch out for those bargin jewel-cased games. Alot of them are Starforced. Two companies that are heavy users are DreamCatcher Interactive and UBI-Soft. UBI held a press conference saying that they are no longer using Starforce...but their Starforced games are still for sale, and some of the games are great games ... don't play em'. DreamCatcher Interactive which is also known as The Adventure Company, uses the junk sporadically on their often stale point and click "Adventure Games". If there ever were a bunch of games that didn't need copy protection, they are in that category, and yet they use the harshest and most punishing copy protection available. I don't know how point and click QVR puzzle and brain teaser games became known as 'Adventure Games' but they are ... even though the majority of them aren't very adventuresome. My review of the game based on the Agatha Christie novel (by DreamCatcher's The Adventure Company) "And Then There Were None" was that no one was left because every one was bored to death. It was just awful. Just because a game can be downloaded from the internet doesn't mean it is Starforce free. Several games available from internet download are Starforced...always check the list. Yeah...gaming is worth the hassle. marf

I have a stereo in the kitchen, but it's mostly for listening to Christmas music while I'm doing the Christmas baking. Kat, I bought that Andrea Bocelli CD for the boss for Christmas, she loves it. You might find me listening to darned near anything, depending on my mood. Right now I have five CDs in the stereo: The Beach Boys Charo (thanks, beanthere, I still like that CD!) Norah Jones "The Fall" Ravel's "Four Seasons" The London Symphony Orchesta and Beverly Sills "the Barber of Seville" OK, so the last one is Elery's, he grew up listening to opera in the Italian grocery where he worked as a kid and he loves it. Tomorrow it might be The Everly Brothers, Kenny G, Willie Nelson, Journey and Beethoven, you never know. Neither do I.... I listen to nearly anything except rap or really loud "headbanging" stuff, that gives me a headache. Oh, and Lady Gaga's latest thing, Ashley loves it, I can't stand it. Annie
