Storage Shed Landscaping help

Hi Everyone - We are in the process of putting in a storage shed along the block wall to the left. The shed will only come out 4 feet from the wall and will be 10 foot long and we are planing on using a paver base for the shed. I am struggling with hardscape ideas for this area. We dont plan on planting anything in the ground, maybe in xl pots one day. This is the back of our house that is rarely seen - our main yard is on the side of the house but I would like this area to look nice. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

I agree if it is going to be a long term investment (only Structure) ensure adequate sizing for a small lawn tractor and some tolls chainsaw , lawnmower etc. 12'x12' would be minimum. I like exmar's recommendation also for a do it yourself project that even you with your wife could do for quite a $ savings for your lawn tractor and a few tools . Comments (7)Thanks again for the feedback, if I got 15 years from the shed structure I'd be happy. What I struggle with is neighbors that have not remotely gone to the effort of 3 inches of base and yet they get 10+ years from the structure. Even my 1/2 inch is a 1/2 inch more than any of them have done. I really struggle with what is necessary vs what is overkill. For example, my neighbor has a shed in its 12th year that comes off as neae new - this neighbor took zero consideration on deteriorating wood - wood mulch right on it, wood pile right on it, no airflow, etc - yet, 12 years and counting with no obvious wood rot. I read the comments that talk about a major amount of effort to lay 3 inches of base and get totally confused because everyone around me has done so much less and their results have been fine. Comments (5)The terraces vary in width. The leftmost/bottom terrace is 8 feet, dropping off 10ft via a cinderblock retaining wall into a creek. I do not want to build on this level because I don't know how well the wall can hold with the added weight of the auxiliary building so close to it. The middle terrace is also about 8 feet. The rightmost/top terrace is about 5 feet. I wanted to use 7ft of the middle and 3ft of the top terraces for the shed. The reason why I don't want to raise the entire storage shed to the same level as the top level is because my yard is at the same level as the bottom terrace, and I don't want to build a long ramp when a shorter one would suffice by building the storage unit and its door mostly on the middle terrace. If I were to build on the bottommost terrace, how far away from the retaining wall would you recommend I set the storage shed back from? Comments (8)Cori Ann, I don't see if the windows open. They absolutely should. If they don't you will have dangerous heat build up. I don't like the way the shingles go over the windows, poor design. The angled window/roof is wasted space. The upper flap vent shown on one side is too small. An adjustable speed/temperature controlled exhaust fan is mandatory. The air exchange should move from the bottom of the greenhouse to the top. Without opening windows, you're in trouble. Temperature controlled opening windows are best. Otherwise you are a slave to the greenhouse. On the opposite side, it looks like just a too small screen vent. No good. Air circulation and exchange will keep the plants healthy and diseases minimized. The smaller the greenhouse, the more difficult it is to keep an even temperature. Get a greenhouse/shed designed by a good greenhouse company that knows something about greenhouses built specifically for weather conditions in your area.
