Do I get points for bumping from the bottom?

In Nashville, the Five Points area, they gave away free pizza at lunch today. Not getting everyone's way as they headed over there, may have to suffice. Oh, I did just pot up my officemate's aloe vera baby. She's busy with her elderly parents and stressing, so I wanted do something for her.

Yes, bumping is an RAK, pllog. I notified friends at the dog park that they are applying fertilizer and weed killer today, so they might want to skip tomorrow.

I think most of us do RAK's every day.

My neighbor came over to workwork on my flower bed and trim my rose bush she isis a wonderful person andand I am so lucky to have her in my life. She knows how much my flower beds mean to me and that I can no longer get out in them and she loves working them. So I repaid her by buying her lunch and giving her their dinner for tonight. She doesn't like to cook much, it works out good for us. Lol.

I try to do RAK every chance I get. Paying it forward is something I try to live by.

At the cancer treatment centre today there are about three alcoves where there are 4 chairs each, for patients waiting to see their doctor. I stopped and chatted a bit ... and told a couple of ole joyful's stories - it was pleasant seeing some smiles appear on some of their faces, and in one we got into a rather spirited conversation. For one couple, it was their first visit with their doctor, so they were somewhat apprehensive. Also spoke to a couple of solo folks in the larger waiting area.

Treatments began Jan 6 - 30 done, 5 to go.

I looked rather searchingly at the main operator of the radiation system the other day and said that her face looked rather familiar ... that I had a feeling that we'd met somewhere before ... and she said that, yes, she thought that to be a good possibility.

I asked one of the workers today what we call people who do that work - "radiators"? She said that, no, their designation is "radiation therapists" ... but smiled.

I have a feeling that they're going to miss me ...

... sort of like a dog misses fleas, after their departure?

Ole joyful. glad that you are in the home stretch. So nice of you to engage the techs and patients; I am sure they enjoy it just like I do.

When my mother was in her later days, going to the grocery store was one of her few outings. I took her, of course. I was always grateful when the checkers were friendly and chatty with her. It meant so much for her to have a little interaction with another person besides me. Life gets somewhat limited when it's difficult to get out. The checkers probably didn't know, but those moments were Random Acts of Kindness.

Every day is random acts of kindness day!

My elderly friend with copd was sitting on his front porch. I walked over a magazine to give him. Hung out. I offered to lay a tile entry way for him when we're done with this remodel.

In my world too! Frogs eat mosquitos! I love having a frog in the atrium we like hearing it sing. Unfortunately my atrium frog either made it out of there or died I have not heard it in a very long time. We had a green tree frog hitch a ride in the RV from Louisiana to here, we turned it loose in the atrium but have not seen it anywhere. They are climbers, my guess is it climbed right out of there.

Visited with my sister and SIL and brought a homemade pound cake for my sister to slice up and freeze so she can have it with her morning coffee as she recuperates from a messy surgery tomorrow. She will be out of commission for a couple of months from replacing a previous hip replacement. SIL brought a box of chocolates. So my sister will be having treats now and then as she recuperates.

I am a firm believer in being kind everyday. I try to do what ever I can for who ever I can, sometimes it comes around and bites me in the butt though as doing something nice for some people = they think they can hit you up over and over sigh.

I am very very fortunate I know that and I appreciate it, I believe in paying it forward. I also believe in Karma and if I do good things for others hopefully good things will happen to me.

Last year I was fortunate enough to do many awesome things for others, this year I will scale down a bit but will still do my best to help as many people as I can.

One thing I would like to share and it is simple to do with sales and dollar store buys is providing backpacks of school supplies to schools in lower income areas. You can find back packs on clearance usually after school has started, collect pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, boxes of tissues, rolls of paper towels, spiral notebooks, folders pretty much whatever you can find. I can usually put together 15-20 backpacks over the course of a year to get ready for the next school year. Biggest cost is usually the paper towels believe it or not. You would be surprised at how appreciative the schools are as they have quite a bit of children who do not have this stuff and then the teachers have to supply. Also grab coats when they are cheap at goodwill and donate to schools to give to children who don't have them.

If you not into kids, animal shelters love your old towels and blankets they don't care if they are stained and have fraying they appreciate anything they can get.

I went to the ATM yesterday, kind of in a hurry. There was an older man in front of me, and he was having problems. So I helped him with his deposit -- it would have taken less time to do it myself, but that wouldn't be nearly as helpful as teaching him.

I am so glad that happened.

Since when did normal manners and kindness to others become redefined as random acts ? When I assist someone in need or do something nice for someone I certainly don't see it as a random act. It is simply being a decent human being.

It started as a bumper sticker in a tumultuous time. Well, actually (per Wikipedia), The phrase "practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty" was written by Anne Herbert on a placemat in Sausalito, California in 1982. It was based on the phrase "random acts of violence and senseless acts of cruelty". That placemat phrase was popularized on a bumper sticker in the early 1990's, after Herbert's book on the subject.

The "random" isn't the important part, other than meaning the things we do just to be a nice and decent human being in our relationships with strangers we never expect to see again. The important part is spreading kindness rather than curses, remonstrances and harm.

Re the proverb, it's a good one, but my take is that if one doesn't speak of it, one is doing it for goodness's sake, rather than credit. It's like Maimonides's highest level of charity going to someone you don't know and who doesn't know it came from you. Charity just for the sake of charity. There's a sticky part in practice, however. While we can aspire to the highest forms, people give more when they see their peers giving (the whole point behind fundraising events) and, similarly, people's stories about their good deeds encourage others to do them too. They also teach ways in which one can spread kindness. So I think talking about it on a special kindness day is a good thing. Repeating it often, and loudly, like Little Jack Horner ("What a good boy am I!"), is not. :)

plllog....well said! No one here is bragging or getting "extra points" of course. It's just fun to share and collect ideas, think well of each other.

When I think of RAK's, I remember how kind people were to me when I was on crutches for many months by holding the door in stores. I was very grateful to each and every one. It was nothing to them, everything to me.

I printed some cards, the size of business cards and put on them "May you have a beautiful Day." Whenever I go through a drive through I tell the cashier that I want to pay for the car behind me and ask her to give a card to them.
