I've been having the best luck with Saucony athletic shoes. I was buying the Asics shoes a few years ago but have found them to have gone WAY DOWN in quality. I can use the Saucony with an after market insole and they are more comfortable than the Asics. Another bad thing that Asics has recently started is they are sized extremely small. I'd have to wear an 11 in them but a few years ago, I wore a 10. You can hardly find a size 11 anywhere. They are also getting very expensive. Let's just say, I'm very disappointed in the new Asics shoes because they were my very favorite. Another shoe that was my favorite but is no longer is Skechers....do not like them at all anymore. I had worn them for years, they were wonderful. Sadly, I'm finding that the quality of once really good shoes is going down hill FAST. :C

I too loveD (past tense) Skechers. I really really hate the new memory foam inserts. They make my feet sweat, and I can't find the bike shoes I liked. Those really supported my feet well.

It all depends on the shoe's function. But never buy them at full price; always on sale!

Athletics - Saucony and Mizuno are my current favs. Been running in Saucony for years but recent models seem to have a narrow toe box. Picked up some pricey Mizunos at a huge savings and am liking them. I have a couple pair of Nike I picked up for non-running (I don't really like their fit).

General walking - Crocs. I wear them around the house year round (clogs in winter, sandals the rest of the year). Have a few pair of "out of the house" shoes that I wear.

Dress - Bandalino flats, heels. Nine West heels. Carlos Santana heels.

I was a Birkenstock gal for decades, until I developed foot trouble, then I went to Crocs. Now most of my shoes/sandals/slippers are FitFlops,

Crocs, I 'spose. That's just about all I wear. I'm not into fashion....shoes, clothes, purses. If it fills the need, that is all I care about.

Like everything else, it's all new and improved and ruined. I went to a pricey athletic shoe place last year because my feet hurt. Had them watch me walk and pick out a pair of shoes based on how I wear them. That was ok. I got some Saucony. Then I found Mizunos on sale for $45 so bought a pair of them. They worked even better. Found more Mizunos on sale this year online. Ordered them. They are more plasticy and make my feet smell really bad. I need to go looking again. I try to walk every day and comfortable shoes are a necessity.

I've had Naturalizers for a comfortable nicer looking shoe for when I'm out in public. The padding doesn't last long. I bought Echos for vacation a couple of years ago because I needed sandals for the beach and comfortable walking shoes. They were great for that trip, but now they make my feet stink. I hate that.

I have to wear men's shoes. (size 10.5 mens, USA). That limits me greatly. I have Saucony running shoes, and I buy them every time now -- I don't run in them but they fit my feet the best. I also have Hi-Tec hiking shoes, which are great for hiking in the woods. I don't have any feminine shoes any more -- they just don't make them my size. And I certainly have no interest in heels!

I put deodorant on the bottom of my feet, with a couple of sandals I have. Otherwise, I get stinky feet. Easy problem to fix. :)

My everyday shoes are Dansko, I have both open and closed backed clogs. When they start to look worn (many years), they get retired to the garden. I've taken a quick look down at my feet while places like the grocery store, my feet will be so comfortable I'm afraid I've gone out in my garden shoes...and it's happened ;)

Sneakers are Brooks. My dressier shoes right now are Paul Green, I have a pair of ankle boots and another wedge style. An outright high heel any more and my back is 'speaking' to me, but the same is true of completely flat like a ballet flat with a thin leather sole.

No house shoes or slippers here, I'm bare or in socks.

Mephisto and Easy Spirit for day to day shoes.

I have weird feet. High, long arches, wide ball and narrower in the heel and short toes. In the summer I live in sport sandals, Lands End or Tevos, and flip flops. In winter I wear Harley Davidson boots for everyday. I have 4 pairs in different styles. They seem to fit best of all the casual boots I've tried. I also have become a fan of Bear Paws. For sneakers it's New Balance. For horseback Double H Lacers. For skates SP Teri semi-custom.

SAS sandles....my feet sweat in the summer and I can take a brush, soap and water and wash the foot bed. Most of my other shoes are Clarks.

Nike Air Max Moto 9 for athletic. Merrell for hiking. Born or Rockport for everyday. Bear Paws for sheepskin boots. Teva for leather sandals. Old Friend Juliet for house slippers.

Propet. I have very wide feet, and they come in extra-wide. They are well made and comfortable. I get them from Zappos.

Nothing but Birkenstocks in the warm months, Nikes every day for walking and running, and Timberlake occasionally, GAP ballerina,,etc...

My all time favorites are Miss Mauds from before the company was sold. They're so beautiful! Maud Frizon knew how to design shoes that were gorgeous and looked good on, without requiring towering heels, outrageous prices, or red soles to prove they were lovely.

On a daily basis, nowadays, those are all way too fancy. As I said previously, I mostly wear clogs and sandals, from various makers. Birkenstock is also a long time favorite, however, especially when walking on pavement. I used to like the woolly Crocs for standing around and lots of walking, but they changed the fit and the new ones are useless.

I've tried athletic shoes, but they don't generally fit me right. A lot of the new shoes of any closed heel style don't, which is why I keep so many old ones. The back of the heel comes up high and curves in, and just trying them on makes me want to scream in pain. I guess some people's heels extend backwards, but mine don't. Hence, sandals and clogs.

I like Mephisto and Ecco, but I like the better when they're on a good sale.

I needed new house shoes and found a pair of Naturalizer Bzees "Paradise" in the sales racks of DSW shoe warehouse the other day. The shoes are lightweight but have a fairly thick sole. They are very comfortable.

Oh I have many. I am happy in Skechers these days, but other brands I have and like, keen, born, Merrell , mephisto, clarks, roper, I like ASICS athletic shoes. I have completely flat feet so truly no shoes fit meme properly I go with the most comfortable and well made. If it feels great on my weird feet I will buy it! I agree I don't like the memory foam in the Skechers, I wish they would make with or without choices. TheyThey make the shoe fit tighter and they sometimes make ridges which become uncomfortable and like all things memory foam they make me sweat. The super lightweight aspect of the Skechers is a great plus.

I've been wearing sketchers for the past 6 months. I have to have a ExWide so shoes is a hard thing for me to buy.

My favorites are Minnetonka Moccasins, and I have them in all the different colors. I constantly have strangers compliment me on my shoes, and ask where I got them.

I can't wear Birkenstocks. I tried, but they really hurt my feet. The raised ridge they have that rests just behind the toes, is what I can't stand.

Anybody wear Brookes walking shoes? My son has some and says they are great.

For all other shoes and boots, I have lots of different brands. But they have to be leather. No suede, no manmade, no plastic. (Except for one pair of Crocs, and some Nike flipflops, of course.)

I love Toms, Uggs and Tory Burch flip flops and her boots.

I wear Merrell slides most of the time.

Lindsey, about the ASICS...I had a pair that were wonderfully comfortable. I cannot remember the style number anymore but I got them at a store that has sales associates that help you fit your needs. It's an athletic shoe store. Anyway, they were great and the most comfortable shoes ever. As with all shoes, they wore out (I walk three miles per day or more). I went to buy ASICS new shoe that took this ones place and it totally sucked. It did not fit at all. Was nothing near as comfortable as the old pair. So the search was back on to find a decent athletic shoe for miles of walking per day. Plus the asics shoe was so expensive and it wasn't even any good anymore. I even contacted ASICS to make sure I was trying the correct style that replaced my wonderful shoes.

Florsheim. These days I get my shoes from VA, for diabetics. I still have Florsheim for dress shoes.

Arkansas_Girl -- if you still happen to have that old pair of ASICS, look all over the exterior very carefully, and also on any tags that are still readable on the inside (like the one under the tongue). The style of the shoe will be written somewhere -- almost always on the outside.

Also, you should definitely go through the ASICS Shoe Finder to see what shoes are recommended for you. Do you know your pronation? As I said above, I am an over pronator -- my ankles roll inward when I walk. If you aren't sure, the ASICS site will show you how to determine it, and you can also look at the wear pattern on your existing shoes.

You should also pay attention to the reviews that people post on the ASICS site about the different styles. The absolutely most comfortable pair of "athletic shoes" that I own (and I have two pair of these because they're so great) is the Gel-Kayano 20. The first pair I bought was on sale for $115 (normally $170) on the ASICS web site, and it was the "Lite-Show" model (they have more reflective stuff on the shoe so they will show up better at night). The newer version -- Gel-Kayano 21 -- was out, which is probably why the Gel-Kayano 20 was on sale, but the reviews overwhelmingly said that they weren't as comfortable as the Gel-Kayano 20. I wanted to get another pair, but no way was I going to buy the 21 with those reviews. The Gel-Kayano 22 is out now and the reviews on it are good again.

I bought the second pair of Gel-Kayano 20 from ASICS -- also on sale, but they're not "Lite-Show." That's ok, cuz I don't walk at night. I just want the comfort, so I got them in a different color.

The Gel-Exalt is also a good one for me, as well as the Gel-Foundation 12.

And don't forget to check Amazon for good sale prices on ASICS. Also, from what I understand from someone who works for Zappos.com, Zappos no longer has shoes on sale. Zappos also owns 6pm.com, which is where you will find shoes on sale.

My husband walks between 10 and 20 miles every day. He also says that the pair of Men's ASICS Gel-Kayano 20 that I bought him are his most comfortable pair.

To make your shoes last longer, do not wear the same pair every day. Wear them no more often than every other day -- every third day is even better. My husband used to buy me one new pair of ASICS every year, and last year I bought 5 new pair of ASICS. Right now I've got about a dozen pair in rotation. Because I rotate them, they'll probably never wear out. Dang. There are some pretty colors I'd like to buy...

My feet are just plain difficult, as I have bunions. The most comfortable shoes for me are Easy Spirit e360, but I have to get 1//2 size smaller than usual. Also, Sketchers usually work. Both of those brands look good (you don't notice the bunions). I also have some Ugg boots that fit well and look good. I also have a pair of Birkenstocks, but the sizing is "off" and I should have returned them. Luckily, the Easy Spirit shoes are mostly washable (I put them in the machine with a few towels) as I have a terrific foot odor problem. I tried drying them once (in the electric dryer) and ruined a couple of pairs. I now let them air dry.

Lindsey, yes I found the shoe that replaced my shoe at the ASICS website and I also contacted them via e-mail. It's been a couple years since I was looking at them so I will get the old shoe out and refresh my memory about the style number and see if maybe the new replacement is good again. People LOVED the shoe that I have and people hated the replacement so hopefully ASICS heard and made good on their beloved shoe that people loved so much. These companies are just like all the other companies, always trying to save a penny and cheaping out on us! UGH!

Born brand were my faves (swedish), but I think they outsourced the production to mexico or some other place- they are now made too small for me (size 11) and I don't think their women's sizes go higher than that. : ( I'll hang on to my old ones until they're bits of sinew clinging to my hooves.

I have small wide feet. Very difficult getting shoes. Years ago, for work, my go to was Naturalizer because they offered wide.

When I stopped working and had my daughters, I was in Nike or New balance sneakers. My sneakers now are Nike. I had to order and send back so many pairs as the stores didn't carry wide.

Now it's crocs (so many cute ones now a days), Bernardo flip flops, Easy Spirit, a Reiker loafer I bought years ago. (I had the sense to stockpile two extras and now I'm on the last pair.

I have some Aerosole, but from years ago. Nothing seems to fit there.

Added woe. The Easy Spirit store closed. Macy's bought Easy Spirit so they might begin to show more, but Macy's isn't really convenient for me either.

I have one pair of Ecco shoes, but they aren't really comfortable. I wear the Ecco sandals all summer for taking long walks.

When it is really cold my UGG boots, in the house UGG slippers, lots of walking my Sketchers, when it's hot Burberry flip flops, when I need cute but comfy I wear Burberry Ballerina flats, really fancy dressy Christian Louboutin (these don't get worn much) I never really go anywhere fancy and last but not least when I ride horses Justin lace ups or Carhart lace up boots.

Ellendi6161 -- men's shoes are wider than women's shoes --- have you ever considered buying men's shoes? A "wide" in women's shoes is "standard" in men's shoes. The ASICS site even states that men sometimes will wear women's to get a narrow fit and women will wear men's to get a wide fit. It also says, "Most additional width will be found in the forefoot." You would just need to find out which size in men's would correspond to your size in women's shoes. ASICS makes most of the same styles for both men and women and you can't tell them apart, other than some colors are offered in men's but not women's, and vice versa.

really like easy spirit,although they were better years ago... don't like crocs, just too wide and i think they are ugly (sorry croc lovers)...flip flop of choice is teva, and slippers, Vionic, bought on QVC, LOVE them... for dress and other, just too many brands to list....

I buy and wear new balance, black in the winter and then white in spring, summer. I do have sandals that slide on for summer. Inside I change into imitation crocs, love those inside.

I like Clarks, Vionic and Easy Spirit Used to wear Minnetonka Moccasins, still love them..but my feet are as old as I am and I will be 80 on my next birthday, they don't work as well as the used to.

sad to say I have only 2 pair of easy spirit, and they're so old it's sad...but just don't seem to find shoes to wear anymore...dh can walk right into kohls or the new balance store we now have and buy almost anything including his latest golf shoes...he has one pair just for the treadmill, and other for outside that have seen better days. lol...
