My Early Valentine's Gift...Stephanotis!
Comments (17)I have purchased several stephanotis floribunda over the years. They are usually sold in pots which have become too small for them so I put each in a larger pot not long after purchasing. Almost immediately, the leaves begin to become dull and flat (not shiny) and become kind of spotted (yellow and greenish-yellow). Then they become all yellow and fall off. With each attempt to make one of these plants survive, I have tried different strategies. Less water, to the point of dryness--same problem. More moist soil--same problem. Different soils--more peat, more perlite, less peat, whatever. Always the exact same situation. Each one was in a south facing window in Maryland, with normal indoor temperature. Humidity never below about 45%. I am not a clutz with plants. I have never had a plant which I have tried harder to please, and yet with more consistently baffling failure. Any thoughts, speculation, suggestions, or just plain pity would be welcome....See MoreMy Valentine's Day Table
Comments (15)Thank all of you for your sweet comments :>). The thing I most love and appreciate about my mom is that she gave us all wings to fly and she raised all of us to be strong individuals who weren't afraid to try anything. I have a HUGE family .. 4 sisters and 5 brothers .. and she always let each and everyone of us know how much she loved us.Even after I moved out, if I wasen't feeling well, she'd tell me to come home, she'd take care of me.I used to love to sit in her lap in her old rocking chair and have her brush my hair when I didn't feel good and I still did that as an adult. I didn't find out until after she died that all my brothers and sisters went home to be rocked by mom if the were sick or upset .. lol ! I wonder why people don't rock their children anymore ? Mamas' laps are the safest place on Earth in a rocking chair. Karen .. ROFL !! No, he hasent' eaten the house yet.. but I did find a board on my fence that looks as though he's chewing his way out to get to the house ..lol ! I also have his full brother. He was a year old Feb.12 and his name is Almost A Valentine and he was foaled on my place and both of them are constantly into mischief. I guess it's a good thing though. I lost my 27 yr. old mare Jan.4 and that was kind of devastating, so these 2 characters keep my mind off losing Lady. Susan...See MoreMy Valentine's Day Dessert
Comments (7)Sure, I'll try. If you are starting a thread. like Stir_fryi did this one, you need to wait to add the link. So just do your post, without the link (you can refer to it however) then do a preview. Page down on your preview until you see the message box again. Under the massage box is a space called 'Optional Link URL:' that's where you paste the link that you copied on the actual page from the address bar. Under that is the 'Name of the Link' space where you can give the link a name which will show up at the bottom of your post. Click on 'Preview Message' under the Name of Link and your message will show up with the link included at the bottom. You can even try the link to make sure it works, just be sure to arrow back after checking so that you can submit the post. If you want to add a link in a thread that someone else started....forget the first part of these instructions ...just paste the link in the URL that is already under the message box. There's also a way to insert the link in the body of the message and/or do multiple links. I have those instructions written down somewhere..... I just usually do it this way, 'cause it's easier. Comments (3)You cannot control someone elses drinking-period. I highly suggest you get yourself to an al anon meeting asap. If you think it will get better after he retires you are kidding yourself. I come from a long line of hard drinking alcoholics and I promise you the only way you will get some control over your situation is to get a good support system and learn all you can about alcoholism. You can't make him stop or change his drinking patterns. Only he can do that. Please, please take care of yourself and try at least 3-4 differnet al anon meetings to get comfortable with how it works. Hugs, keeping you in my thoughts. ~Cat...See Morejamilalshaw26
