What do you think of these Calcutta marble slabs?
Comments (38)Breathtakingly beautiful slabs! These marble shower walls should be the focal point of the bathroom and the rest of the room understated. I, too, support the suggestions of using a relatively simple white floor with grey grout (instead of a white hex, what about rectangular white tile set on a diagonal herringbone pattern?), either dark wood or a warm grey for the cabinets, and definitely installing the marble so that the pattern is vertical. Your bathroom will be stunning!...See MoreI think I found our next build! Recognize this house plan?
Comments (44)DLM - are you talking about "liming"? That is popular here in the south and I'm assuming it's the same or similar to white-washing. Stinky - I feel the same. I'd feel lost in a house that size LOL. Nor do I want to clean or heat/cool it! But, it's only the two of us (no children), and we have very few overnight guests. We don't have plans to down-size, but no up-sizing either. We built our home 13 years ago with the future in mind - such as - NO STEPS. LOL PPS - I love your home. I enjoyed watching your build on the building forum. I'm glad there are others here who enjoy that board. We're not building, have no plans of building again, but I usually try to look at that board once a month (when I remember!) to see the updates on new builds. I like looking at houses! Comments (28)Wow thanks KA for correcting me. I thought they were honed - they look so soft and matte finish. I don't think you were confused, I was just posting wrong. Glad you caught it. I do like how you can see a lot of the details with polished, but I just loved the feeling of it honed and how soft and marble-like it looked. I think if we did dark wood cabinets then we would get it polished because I've seen how gorgeous it looks with the dark wood. breezygirl - Thanks for making me laugh! I need to carry a handkerchief next time I see the slabs. cjc123 - Thanks for letting me know. DH will feel better reading that about the etching. mom2tykel - post pictures, I bet it will be gorgeous....See MoreFound My Granite Slab What do you Think??
Comments (132)You changed the photo at 10:13 and that changed everything that follows. Be careful or you and we aren't going to be able to keep things straight. My favorite is still the one Mayflowers posted because it has such a lovely color. The green will compliment the red in the cabinets while accentuating the softer tones in your floor. It has movement without being busy or loud. Stunning. The soapstone and costa esmeralda would do well too, but they are darker and you have clearly not entertained that idea. I'm going to try to ignore this thread now. I've said all I can say. Thank you kksmama for finding something to remember in it. It isn't original. I think any good designer, the pros and the experienced amateurs here, will all tell you the same thing. I'm sure I've read it all here before. And now I'm going to vent a little and try not to lose the playing nice factor altogether. My frustration here is that I don't feel the OP is paying attention. Maybe they just don't get it and I can't explain it any better. The suggestion to get a pro involved and looking at these in person has been made more than once. I think its time to heed that advise. It takes time and effort for us to open up multiple screens and look at them and then comment on them thoughtfully. When the comments appear to be ignored, or at least not beneficial, and followed only by another set of photos that show we aren't making any progress in the process, I have to stop. I suspect others already have. Good luck....See MoreWendy
