Comments (16)I want a FAST computer. I'm not into games, music, or videos. Although watching TV, or a DVD would be nice. #1 NEED is to wisk around the web quickly (have NO patience!).- I may be running a website/business. That is not controlled by the computer, it's controlled by the connection you have. You need DSL or "business quality" cable connections. Normal household cable is shared with everyone on the block and it can be very slow. If you plan to run a website/business, I strongly recommend you just pay a few $$ a month for website hosting - siteground.com is a good one with lots of free tools and templates - because setting one up from scratch is a technical nightmare and your thinking a fast CPU = fast internet indicates that you aren't geekish enough to do it. *********** Any computer currently on the market is enough for web, office stuff and viewing DVDs. Buy the cheapest one you can find and pay extra for more RAM (lots more RAM) and a good graphics card....See MoreWindows 7 users BSOD from an update reported

Comments (6)I just bought a Bernina 430 with the embroidery add-on. Wasn't actually looking for an embroidery machine, but it seemed like a useful and potentially fun diversion. So, I am a total newbie. After familiarizing myself with the machine itself and playing around with the preset patterns in EditorLite, however, I'm coming around to the view that what I really want to do is use patterns based on scanned images. For that, I gather, I really need to upgrade from the Lite. I gather the upgraded versions are pretty pricey, and I guess my question is... Are there alternatives? I did some web research, but I can't find a lot of detail on whether some of the third party software will export files that can then be read into Editor Lite. Maybe because I'm not even familiar enough with the lingo, I'm not sure I'm searching on the right things... Is the Bernina software that much better if you are using a Bernina machine? Is it decent software in terms of the user interface as compared to third party stuff? I don't really mind spending the money to upgrade, but would seriously like to avoid having someone tell me three months from now "you dummy, you could have bought this $30 software that does everything yours does."...See MoreNew user of STTP has questions!
Comments (2)DO NOT USE STPP IN THE RINSE! The purpose of rinsing is to remove chemicals and detergent from your clothes, not put them back in. If you want to soften the water in your final rinse, use citric acid instead. Citric acid is a non-precipitating water softener and also aids in smoothing textile fabrics. It's a win-win. You can find citric acid at the Chemistry Store or in the dishwashing section of your local grocery store under the name LemiShine. Middle eastern grocery stores may also stock citric acid under the name "lemon salt". If you have 17 grains hardness, you should not be using less than 1 TBS of Charlie's Soap. In fact, I wrote to Charlie's Soap and they told me that with a 4.0 cuft machine in soft water conditions I should be using 1.5-2 TBS. From what you described, I think you might as well wash in plain water. Just because you see some small amount of suds and turbid water is not an indicator that you are using enough detergent. Determining how much STPP to use based on your specific water hardness and amount of water will require some knowledge of chemistry. You need to know how much calcium can be neutralized by a given quantity of STPP, then apply that to the volume of water and your specific hardness conditions. Unfortunately such a calculation is beyond my pay grade at this time. My initial suggestion would be to use 1 TBS of Charlie's with 1 TBS of STPP and see how it goes....See MoreIdaClaire
