New construction bathroom layout help needed, please
Comments (5)Thanks, that's just what we were thinking. We tried putting the (double) vanity on the outside wall to add a window (between the mirrors and have a lower lever makeup table) back to the room which moved the shower to the inside wall. I would love a walk in shower(for wheelchair access) with a tiled floor/drain and no shower pan, we found some river rock tile to use for the floor. I put the shower in to walk around the wall to get in for privacy--just saw a commercial for a rain shower head to eliminate water splash. Will try to attach the revised drawing (or find one of my kids to do it for me!) Any thoughts?...See MoreHelp with kitchen layout in a new construction
Comments (11)This plan is from a plan that I found online that was close to a house that we've toured and really like and then we've had an architect modify it. I do agree that the kitchen needs to be completely overhauled, it was bigger and then it got cut down to this b/c of costs. The room called "Living room" is the dining room but since we never use a formal dining room we thought we'd leave it there for resale but use it as a living room. I really wanted a mudroom so that is why they put in the closet beside the fridge so they wouldn't have to make it bigger. I really don't even know where to begin if we change the entire house plan like some of you guys are suggesting, I thought everything was great except the kitchen. The floor plan is similar to a lot of the new houses around here. hmmmmm....don't even know what to do maybe I will try the home building section....See MoreNew construction - Kitchen Layout help please!
Comments (4)That's quite similar to our kitchen layout and I totally love the workflow of it. I like that I can have the range aisle to myself while family can get to the fridge and snacks at the perimeter without us being in each others' way. We have an extra water source at the side aisle by the fridge so that helps keep them over there where they belong. :) In your case you have water at the butler pantry along with snacks and I assume coffee, etc., which looks perfect to me! I would move the dishwasher to the left of the sink to keep it out of your prep area. And I don't know what all your measurements are, but if there is any way to eke an extra 12" out of the island to the right of the sink I think you'd be a lot happier with 36" there as a your prep area. Not sure if it's possible to do by taking 6" from each side (4' to fridge is enough, not sure about the other side tho). If not, could you possibly scoot the wall back a little into the pantry area? Good luck with your new build!...See MoreI need help with new construction layout!!!
Comments (27)new-beginnings, lift is basically the correct term. Some manufacturers call this an exterior elevator, but I assume that the one's you are referring to look essentially like a segment of deck that can lift up on rails/hydraulics up to an upper level. generalleaks, I would plan out a roughly 4'x5' spot (with the gate on the short side) connecting either to your front balcony or rear terrace where you would be able to install one of these lifts should you need one in the future....See MoreJen
