Hair disaster

So Ive been bleaching my hair for a while. But recently have decided to go back to my natural color so I can grow my hair out. My hair is naturally a dark ash blonde to a light ashy brown. My hair stylist ended up matching a color to my roots wrong! she slapped on a medium brown dye, not only was it pretty dark, but it also came out a dark auburn! AAAAAAAAA! Does anyone know how i could possibly fade the red out and be left with brown?

Hmmmm I would consult a professional on what to do ( and maybe someone other than pro used previously ) .

In my opinion you may want to leave it as is for now....too many chemicals.

You could try a color lifter. Definitely Dont bleach your hair anymore . the more you do that the more difficult it will be for the color to "stick" to your hair and will likely come out a different shade or shades all over! Go get a color lifter ($3-6??) Then do a good clarifying shampoo Dont condition it. Most conditioners have ingredients that act like a protective barrier on your hair which will make it hard for your dye to fight through not impossible though. If your hair is just damaged as all hell go ahead and condition it. Just Dont leave it on long. Then wait a day for your natural oils to come back. The next day, dye it . Dont shampoo. Condition it. And if you have it, put in a little leave in conditioner preferably a color and moisture locking one. I prune my Mandevilla quite ruthlessly because it's such a rampant grower (maybe I need your dogs to help keep it in check). There shouldn't be any problem with fertilising after a "hair cut", it's never held mine back.

Yes, I've been to the paint store and ordered my wallpaper from them after discussing our situation. Repairing plaster and trying to texturize the drywall to look like plaster is just more work than we are willing to do. And frankly, I am *in love* with the wallcovering we chose (a gorgeous faux plaster) so I am fine with not painting. I agree that the following statement, made by me in my OP indeed sounds like someone looking for a "quick fix": "How should I proceed? Should I just stop and size the whole thing and paper over this mess?" But, if I may make a small retraction - I was really only speaking of that one drywalled wall when I said I wondered if I should just paper over the "whole mess". Why keep fighting to take the paper off when it is stuck like glue and pulling the paper off the drywall. So - back to my orginal question. Can I wallpaper over the fuzzy backer paper that is leftover on the drywall (one layer from the paper liner on the drywall) if I size the whole wall? Is there any reason not to do this? (besides the fact that I should be painting these walls, in your opinion... LOL) Will the leftover backer paper prevent the new wallcovering from sticking? Will it bubble? Will it do something unsightly to the new paper??

For too long. I have very thick, coarse hair with a natural curly/wave. I don't suit it very short - besides, I would need to have it cut every week - it grows like a weed. I greyed in my 20s and am now 63. The grey is iron grey and my complexion is yellow - but this is not apparent until someone holds certain colours against me - then it sure is. And of course my natural hair colour was auburn - I am of Irish heritage. Only colour that suits me - I have tried on wigs in other colours - awful. And red fades. I have my hair cut in layers and keep it a few inches below my ears (when my hair dries after being wet it curls "up" so I need to makes sure that I still have those few inches to peak out from under my hat - and I always wear a hat - red fades). It is very expensive to have it coloured in Toronto - and I do not have highlights - hair is so coarse it appears to be highlighted anyway. I do try and extend the colouring by wearing said hats and basically have it done every 8 weeks - unless I am going somewhere say at week 5 where I have to take my hat off. Not everyone can cut my type of hair. Unfortunately the best colour for me is Goldwell - not cheap. I recently (due to a funeral) had to go to a different salon since my colourist does not work certain days of the week. They used L'Oreal Professsional - which is a good colour product, but apparently I am now allergic to the current formulation. Wonderful. And to think I used to do it myself before the colour was d/c'd. And of course with so much grey now I would not want that tell-tale 2 inch patch of off-colour auburn. I do use a curl enhancement product - but it is hard to find one that is not for fine, thick hair. I need strength in the product.

This most definitely will not "fix itself" later. The odor suggests a leak. it can be at least 3 things: plumbing pipe has cracks or leaks from intrusive roots, or someone digging cracked it with a shovel or some other reason plumbing has become disconnected from septic tank so waste is landing in the yard rather than inside septic tank 3) Tank is full and needs to be emptied. definitely need a professional to determine cause and correct problem. If you are in Australia, codes may be different than USA, so I can't comment any further on the matter. But the poop is just leaching into the soil. Gross! Tell her to get it fixed fast. May be pricey but not b/c complicated but b/c not many people do this ghastly job, at least not in my area.

Oh, if you DO go with the color lifter you MIGHT need a toner and you MIGHT need developer . probably looking at around $12 depending on how long your hair is. I have no idea what your hair looks like so I Dont know what toner to recommend. Best to go into a community college that has a beaut program and ask them what would be the right toner. And they might have an even better idea to help you out. Or go to sallys. But a lot of their employees really Dont know anything on how to fix mistakes. I only go there because I know a former coworker that works there and is actually in beauty school and head helped save my hair a lot! So it just circles back to walking into a beauty school. Its a free and honest opinion rather then walking into a professional salon and have them tell you, you need all this expensive work done.

You may not want to go back to the shop but I would. Ask her opinion. Hairdressers know when they have screwed up. I wish they would look for your reaction and say: I can see you don't like it and I don't either. She may be able to put some highlights in it to lighten the look. I absolutely hate going to hairdressers. Even if you bring a picture it is not right. I'm sorry. I'm in the 3ed month of growing out a bad haircut and color from someone who has done my hair before and decided do something different. Chopped up mess for me who wears a medium length bob.
