Do these look like quality cabinets?

I'm thinking of purchasing a recycled kitchen and would like opinions on the cabinet quality. I am concerned that the drawer slides look cheap. The cabinets have plywood boxes and maple fronts. Any thoughts from the picture? Thanks!

it's all about the cost and your situation....there are indeed better constructed cabinets. If this is the kitchen remodel that you've been waiting for, and you don't want to do it again, I wouldn't. If it's a 2nd home/a "flip/ short term interval before a bigger remodel...then one can justify it. How many running feet are you getting, and what is total price...you can "kind of" calculate the price per foot you are paying.....There isn't much these days of decent quality below 250.00/ft.....more like 400-500/ft. for "good".....the alternative would be Ikea-they have pretty good construction for the price and you'd have choices...but these are plywood boxes and maple fronts...that counts. So, it really just depends on factors that you value. Will they install it...take away your old kitchen...etc/etc....I think it's hard to take a showroom or recycled kitchen and make it work.....always curious how people do this..

Do you know the brand? From the photo, they look like a nicer than average cabinet...definitely not a low end cabinet. Plywood boxes is a good thing. Any cabinet line that does inset and plywood ends is at least a 'mid-grade' cabinet. The drawer/rollout within a drawer is also something that only SOME mid-grade lines offer. I can't tell what the guides are...maybe some other pros can tell.

Questions:

1. Brand? Or Cabinetmaker?

2. How old is this kitchen/display?

3. Any wear and tear?

4. Can you still get additional pieces? Is manufacturer still around? Is finish discontinued?

5. How much are they asking? And does it include dis-assemble, delivery and install?

6. How many cabinets are there?

7. Is it a full working kitchen or a display?

For used cabinets or displays, costs in my area vary from $25 to $300 per cabinet based on quality...etc. Displays are usually sold at cost or less.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I didn't mean to suggest that he did not sand the insides at all, because you can tell it has been sanded. It just isn't sealed with anything. It appears to be just sanded plywood. I agree with the person who stated that the HD or Lowes cabinets seem better than what I am dealing with. I have thought the same thing I went there today and he said in all the cabinets he has ever done through the years, he has only been asked to finish the insides of one set. He said we could stain it if WE wanted to but most people don't bother :/ I knew I moved to the sticks, BUT good greif :/ He is in the process of changing a few things on the cabinets as we speak. He will be removing the stiles on the top and bottom of the cabinet you all saw. That will make them a little more functional anyway. He is changing a few drawers, not all. I think he is trying to make me happier, anyway. As to why he did them the way he did in the first place, I guess I will never know. I guess I will look into some of your suggestions for the inside. I am just so tired of dealing with the man at this point. Thanks guys!

I just saw this. I have to tell you, stained cabinets never spoke to me. I'd come across a painted kitchen and "ooOOOoooooo," I'd softly quiver. ("quiver?" OMG. I said "quiver.") Anyway, that was until the day I stripped some vintage, beaded inset cabinets down to bare oak. Holy moly were they pretty. I antiqued them with a gray stain, then 2 different tones of brown to reach an incredible finish. Then, I stripped some of those horrible dark red/black cherry cabinets, again, down to bare wood. So absolutely beautiful. I've actually done the same finish now on 4 antique doors, too. LOVE IT. Now I have such a mix of wood in my kitchen it probably looks stupid, but I call it "eclectic." (No, it's not nice just because I did it. It's just that I can't decide now what to do!) But I don't want to repaint them. My point in all this? I love the pictures this question is provided. Thanks for asking. Also, don't be shy about Citristripping the finish off your cabs and restaining. It's a PIA, but incredibly do-able in place with Citristrip. Messy, but no longer flesh-eating. Just a thought.

We're using building in Oxford Twp. and our interior designer, based out of the Troy area hooked us up with Distinctive Designs in Leonard. We didn't have them make our kitchen cabinets, but they made two curved stairs in our rotunda, all the interior custom millwork, interior door installation, coffered ceiling in our great room, ceiling detail in our dining room, as well as two cabinet built-ins in complex areas. I'm an amateur woodworker and can attest to the quality of their construction, but their service and amicability goes above and beyond what I was expecting. They do design work, but I don't have experience with their kitchen designs if they offer it. I would still recommend giving them a call if you want some quality products. I have a build blog if you want to take a look at the things they did for us. We went with white painted cabinets made by Omega for our kitchen, so be aware of the issues of painted cabinets on wood. Even Omega has a disclaimer about wood movement and paint lines opening up so depending on the style of doors you're looking for, whether it's factory made or locally constructed, you'll be dealing with the laws of nature.

Ditto what the above folks said. Do they include the countertop? And would you want the counter top? I'm a skilled DIYer and I would not tackle something like this unless I was DIYing it or would need very few changes requiring a carpenter.
