What do the insides of your cabinets look like?
Comments (16)Thanks everyone for the advice. I didn't mean to suggest that he did not sand the insides at all, because you can tell it has been sanded. It just isn't sealed with anything. It appears to be just sanded plywood. I agree with the person who stated that the HD or Lowes cabinets seem better than what I am dealing with. I have thought the same thing I went there today and he said in all the cabinets he has ever done through the years, he has only been asked to finish the insides of one set. He said we could stain it if WE wanted to but most people don't bother :/ I knew I moved to the sticks, BUT good greif :/ He is in the process of changing a few things on the cabinets as we speak. He will be removing the stiles on the top and bottom of the cabinet you all saw. That will make them a little more functional anyway. He is changing a few drawers, not all. I think he is trying to make me happier, anyway. As to why he did them the way he did in the first place, I guess I will never know. I guess I will look into some of your suggestions for the inside. I am just so tired of dealing with the man at this point. Thanks guys!...See Morewhat does paint grade wood look like stained?
Comments (10)Paint grade trim is made from short pieces of wood joined together with finger joints---that zig zaggy look. :) The sections used often have very different grain patterns---which take stain much differently---making the result look like a hit and miss stain job---light sections between darker sections---and the finger joints stand out like they are spotlighted....See MoreWhat color counter with your natural cherry cabinets
Comments (21)Oooh...nice pics everyone. Alexamd, your kitchen probably is the closest to mine as far as lighting goes and that granite doesn't look too dark at all. I like your backsplash too. Is that slate? I received my 12x12 sample of Cambria Bradford on Thu. My daughter (who never likes the same thing as me) actually liked it too. I took it with me to 2 more granite suppliers Fri so I could compare granites to it. All the ones I've liked are pretty dark. I gave my layout to a fabricator to get a quote on sapphire brown just to get an idea on the granite. Unfortunately, there aren't many places here that handle Cambria anymore because the company won't allow anyone in NC to fabricate it but them (in their facility in Charlotte). Presumably there's not enough money in just measuring, templating and installation to make it worth the local guys' time. I ordered a sample door from Scherr's yesterday. I should have done that a long time ago. I'm hoping it will darken up faster if I set it in the sun....See MoreLVP that looks like natural unstained wood?
Comments (26)Erin, What did you finally decide? Do you have pictures you can post? I am in a similar situation and am stumped. Last month, I gave up trying to find an LVP that coordinated with my natural red oak hardwood because all the colors I could find were either too gray or were a really dark brown or black. However, Houzz commenters on a post I had about carpet pricing persuaded me to give LVP another try. HELP !!!...See Morejaviwa
