Please share photos of your sofa recliners

DH would like to purchase 2 sofa recliners and a rocker/recliner. I'm having a hard time picturing what this would look like in a real family room. I'm assuming a coffee table would be hard to use since the recliner sticks out so far, but maybe one on wheels? We will have hardwood floors and will plan to get a rug. Please share pictures.

I don't have a reclining sofa, but I Googled images of them and surprisingly many of them show coffee tables.

I don't have a picture handy, but our reclining sofas stay close to the wall and a foot rest comes up. They look very similar to this one. Our coffee table is centered on a 4 x 7 rug. It's about 24" away from the closed sofa and gives plenty of clearance for the foot rests to raise.

I couldn't take good pictures of my tables when this thread started. They and a bunch of other stuff were jammed into the dining room/entry hall due to work in the family room/kitchen/breakfast room area. Here is the dining room table: It is rosewood from a Scandinavian import furniture store in the 70's. There is a matching sideboard not in the picture. It's style is very consistent with our MCM house. We like the pedestal base which keeps out of the way of chair placement. Also, the base doesn't need to move for the table to expand. It has one leaf in this picture. The second leaf expands it to 108" and without leaves it goes down to 70". The very modern simple thin legs on the chairs have been a problem. If my DH wasn't so skilled at woodworking repairs, they would be long gone - I think each chair has had at least one repair. So while we really like this, I'd look for something more sturdy if replacing it. Here is our breakfast room table (used for most meals): The chairs aren't as consistent with our contemporary style, but the table and chairs are very sturdy. It is oak. We bought it partly because the chairs are very comfortable even though they aren't padded which worked well with a growing family and now with grandchildren. This table also has the pedestal base staying out of the way of chair and people legs and the base doesn't need to move for the table to expand. It goes up to 110" with all 4 11" leaves in. In addition, storage for the leaves is built in under the table top. This one could probably be used for 100 years without needing repairs. We bought it from a local furniture store. It was made by Richardson Brothers.

Thanks for the great responses everyone, and for the vote of confidence on the blue. We aren’t planning on being in this house for a super long time, so that is why I was thinking about future buyers. There is also a difference between loving a slab and then how it actually looks in situ. I’ve seen tons of white kitchen countertops, but very few blue ones that I actually liked. @barncatz Thanks for pointing out the other article about the Calacatta quartzite. I’ll definitely have to do some more research to make sure it’s actually a quartzite. @Connecticut Yankee These are the exact slabs I am trying to choose between. That’s a good point about the templating. We were also discussing this as that main vein that runs through the center is really the star of the show. One option we considered was cutting the backsplash behind the range from this section. I’ll upload a sketch of this later. Please share any more photos of blue kitchens, experiences with quartzite, etc. I’ll post a sketch of how we’re thinking of templating the slab. Also, has anyone used a 3cm quartzite as a range backsplash? Could you use it as is, or did it need to be cut down in thickness?

I have my coffee table legs on small gliders. Whenever we want to recline we just nudge the table away.

My3dogs, I checked out the google images but most of them don't show them in full reclining mode.

Do any of you think 3 pieces of reclining furniture is too much? I'm sure it will be comfy though.

If you have room for it, it's not too much. We have a sofa and chair...both recline. They are placed perpendicular with a table between them. In this layout, only one corner seat can recline at a time. Something to consider. It tends to cause arguments between our kids, but otherwise it's not a big deal.

We have a reclining couch and a reclining loveseat. We do not have a coffeetable for that reason. The back also reclines so you can be practically laying down while watching tv. We have side tables and cup holders in the loveseat that solve the issue of needing a coffeetable. Only the poor sap who is stuck in the middle seat on the couch has a problem, but if we have that many people over, there are probably a few sitting at the dining table (adjacent to living room).

The back of the smaller sofa does not recline, but the leg rests can come out. We don't have space to add a reclining chair. To give you some scale, the area rug is 5' x 8'. At some point, I would like to get a coffee table for this room.
