please tell me your paint colors in white/off-white kitchens?
Comments (16)My Mom's is more transitional than traditional so we are trying to layer textures and pattern and add some drama with colour. Kitchen is a featurless interior room in an 80's build high rise condo. It has no window so shooting it can be tricky, my Mom sent me these today to show me the new central light installed: Just daylight (it was overcast and snowy today) and the flash with 3 different light sources (flash, the light and daylight), yikes too man light sources!: I find the whites are more accurate in the first shot while the colour of the walls is more like in the second one. It is BM "Rusty Nail in a flat Aura paint while the ceiling is BM "Cloud White" in the same finish and paint. This is in daylight with a flash but no overhead light: This is last night with the overhead and under cabinet lights on and the flash: It's a strong colour that sort of frames the cabinetry but there isn't a whole lot of it. Backsplash (inset backsplash in both sides of the "L" only no side splash) will be a 1x1 mosaic in off whites and soft beiges. My Mom didn't have a huge budget so she wanted to go a bit bolder and take advantage of some of the fun patterns and textures available in man made materials like laminate and sheet flooring. It isn't a space that lends itself to a cottagey white kitchen, old world elegance or sleek and modern so this was ideal and suits my Mom perfectly....See MoreWhat color are your Creamy/off white cabinets?
Comments (7)The problem with such a question is that, say, BM Cloud White might look totally different in your kitchen and your light than someone else's. What you want to decide is what sort of undertones are you looking for? Do you like the yellow undertone of a "cream" but don;t want it too obvious? Would a green or blue or grey undertone suit your kitchen better? Whites can even have an orange or red undertone. The best thing to do is to bring home as many chis as possible, pick three or four favorites, and purchase samples that you can paint onto large swatches of paper or cardboard. eta: I had chosen Martha Stewart's "Popcorn" for my kitchen, but it was so wrong, way too yellow. A KD at Home Depot helped me choose MS "Whetstone Grey" but at half-formula and it is absolutely perfect for my kitchen, very much a light greige. It is the perfect color for my counters and backsplash, but it will not necessarily be someone else's perfect color in their kitchen. Comments (11)I also had my kitchen trim color computer-matched by the painters at the paint store using a piece of extra cabinet trim. Here is a photo showing a doorway trimmed, as well as our cedar board ceiling (painted with a translucent white-wash) and heavy beams that were painted the trim color. The color is extremely close to the "Swiss Coffee" color of my Kountry Kraft cabinets (which is NOT even close to BM's "Swiss Coffee" btw.) Personally, I think matching the trim is the way to go with the traditional, clean lines of a painted white kitchen. Good luck to you! PS. The blue tape in the photo is marking areas the GC still has to deal with. We redid our entire house and had a TERRIBLE painting crew!!! They got paint on the floors, faucets, sinks, toilets, new doorknobs, etc., etc. AND they DIDN'T paint the tops of ANY doors, any tops of door trim, basically any place they had to get on a ladder to do, or any place they didn't think we'd notice. BEWARE your GC's "finishers"!!! Make sure they are experienced professionals and won't bring in a crew of day-laborers who can't speak English!...See MoreCan you share some pics of your off white sinks
Comments (3)Lindybarts, thanks for the pic. I like your choices as they are similar to what I am thinking of but, I just couldn't picure it. I like your granite too. Perfect coordination. I think the Biscuit looks great....See MoreNewEnglandgal
