Advice on waterproofing shotcrete basement wall from the outside

John W

I have a home with a retrofitted basement. Retaining walls in this basement were constructed using shotcrete method without any waterproofing unfortunately... Shotcrete was applied directly against the excavation surface without any membranes. As a result, I have basement flooding issues when it rains heavily. I realize that proper way to waterproof is from outside, not inside. Question - is it even possible to waterproof from the outside (by excavating against the wall) given that I'm not going to have a "clean" surface to dig against? I imagine the outside of my wall is going to be "dirty/blended" with soil/rock. How would you apply an external membrane in situation like that? Any other ideas?
