waterproofing steps before finishing my basement
Comments (1)The essential measures to keep water at bay are outside the house. Inside, I would limit the use of moisture sensitive finishings and keep any that are moisture sensitive an inch or two above floor level. That would mean no wall-to-wall carpeting, only loose rugs and no wood flooring of any kind. Instead, tiles or stone on an anti-fracture membrane. Put wall base plates on 1" of XPS; you might have to use floating walls because of the soil....See Morewaterproof /water resistant basement flooring?
Comments (0)Anyone ever use Max Tile (interlocking vinyl tiles) or (allegedly) waterproof interlocking carpet tiles for a basement with flooding potential? Any feedback? Other suggestions? We are redoing a basement and put in a french drain and new sump pump to avoid flooding... but before pump was plugged in, we were hit with heavy rains and there was major flooding. Pump should work in the future, but just to be safe, want to put in flooring that is waterproof/resistant. Plan to use basement as play room so I am hesitant to use concrete/tile flooring which may be too hard. Thanks....See MoreWhat color should I paint my first floor interior doors?

Comments (1)If there are no moisture or water intrusion issues and you want to do that for the future "just in case" it happens. you have to do it now before the framing....See Morejejvtr
