Earthbox/Trainer vs Conventional in Ground Method
Comments (2)Frank, Very good question!! I had been growing tomatoes in a raised bed for the past 12 years, and this year, I built 26 EarthTainers instead of continuing the raised bed gardening. My "rationale" included: #1). consistent watering, #2). uniform growing medium, #3). Earlier above ground warmth, #4). isolation from in-ground bugs / diseases, #5). self-supporting tomato cage system without the need for stakes, #6). use of deck space to double my growing area, #7). the ability to perform highly controlled experimentation with fertilizer "A" in one side of the 'Tainer and fertilizer "B" in the other side, #8). no wasted water: the 'Tainer becomes a quasi-hydroponic closed loop system with no water run-off. #9). no weeding, #10. the ability to rotate the 'Tainer 180 degrees to have more symmetrical and productive plant growth during the season. There may be more, but these are my top 10 reasons to make the switch. Raybo...See MoreNeed Help with Bedding... for 4-Poster Bed
Comments (10)I have a four poster too & I wouldn't want to see the metal angle irons. My bedskirt is 3 separate pieces of fabric attached with velcro on the inside of the horizontal wood side rail, with a pleat at each angle iron. My bed has 3 angle irons on each side & one along the footboard. My bedspread covers the top of the wood side rail with most of the rail exposed. Since you have so many angle irons, you could attach the velcro on the outside of the wood rail & buy a bedspread big enough to cover the velcro. This would mean all of your wood rail would be covered, either by bedspread or bedskirt. You'd need to play around to see how much bedskirt versus bedspread would look appropriate....See MorePlease help with bedroom with pine four postercanopy bed
Comments (10)nosoccermom, I noticed these common things in most of your inspiration pics: --Fabric hangings on the bed. All but 2 of the pics have fabric of some sort on the bed itself. --A mix of furniture. Mostly clean lines, but a mix of wood and metal or of different woods. Gives many of the rooms a slight eclectic feel. --Mostly lighter colors, with some darker colors in one or two spots--an accent wall, the flooring. --Some of the rooms have cool-looking statement lamps next to the bed. So I'd explore the idea of putting some curtains on the bed. Or a treatment like that in photo #5--the gray room. That's a simple hanging, pretty easy to make yourself and it's elegant. Then change out your nightstands. Maybe a small, round table to balance out all the rectangular lines of the bed. A bench at the foot of the bed. I'm hopeless at advising people about color. It could be all these rooms have lighter colors because those are the only pictures you can find with beds like yours. Maybe do a search for inspiration pics for bedrooms with colors you like, regardless of what type of bed is in the room. Lamps--get some larger-scale lamps that can stand up to the statement that your bed makes....See MorePalladian Blue walls, black four poster bed-what bedding?
Comments (8)+1 for crisp white. You could do a hotel type bedding too, with the pinstripes around the edges of the duvet/pillowcases, possibly in black or tone on tone white. A monogram would be a nice addition too, with a colorful throw along the bottom for a punch....See More- 8 years ago
