Newbie Poster- Need help for Hardy Roses
Comments (19)I am reading this thread with great interest, esp. due to the fact that so many of our so called "hardy roses" died back to the ground after this past winter! I must say that I had never considered a rugosa, because I was not a fan of their prickly stems and the leaves didn't look so nice to me. However, perhaps I should change my view now! How big does Hansa get in our zone 3 climate here in Calgary? BTW, shillanorth, you have some gorgeous roses!!! :-)...See MoreBed has arrived! (PICS- w/ new paint) Need bedding help :)
Comments (30)Okay- let's talk bedding. I have spent hours searching (online and in stores) and I keep coming back to the RH bedding. So I went back to my store today. They were out of about half of what I needed and wanted so I ordered it (w/ free shipping) and I should have it ALL by the end of the week. Here is what I decided on. 1 King Duvet Cover in the 18th Century Medallion (in link above.) Pacific, so it does have a hint of blue. 2 Matelasse King Euro Shams in Fog (also linked above) 2 Lumbar "accent pillows" in cashmere.. one for each sham. I brought home 2 colors- a gray and an icy blue and need to choose. 1 Matelasse coverlet to act as a blanket- will be between the duvet cover and sheets. ***bought in Eucalyptus which is an icy blue color. The salesman talked me into this and I an really second guessing this for 2 reasons. #1- $179 is a LOT of money for a blanket that might not been seen. I could find a blanket at HomeGoods for $39 that would be fine. #2- *if* I stick w/ it, should I exchange it for Fog (color) so it matches the shams?? I really like the pop of color, but let's say, in the summer time, I decide to let the coverlet show more... wouldn't I want it to match the shams? Or am I trying to be too matchy-matchy??? (a problem of mine.) Wdyt??? Solid choices? I do need to get a king, light weight duvet on order. Any recs? I will go ahead and link the Matelasse coverlet again... *if* I keep the coverlet, should I switch to Fog? wdyt? thanks! Comments (5)I have a black bed frame (headboard & foot board) and a mix of furnishings - nothing matching! I have 2 pieces that don't match the bed or each other but are both black, one piece that has a stone top with fabric skirt, one piece painted red, a wicker bench with iron legs and a fabric pad, a big upholstered chair..... sounds awful, doesn't it??!! Point is, you have lots of possibilities but need to decide what kinds of pieces you need in addition to what color or wood type they should be. Do you need dressers? Bookcases? Seating? Nightstands? My bed is massive in scale like yours and our bedroom is large enough to allow breathing space for other furnishings. How large is your new room going to be - do you know yet? If you will have a small(ish) room with that large bed, you'll need to be careful with scale to make sure you meet your storage needs....See MoreLooking for a 4 poster bed in dark finish- It can't be this hard!
Comments (10)witmom-- The first place I check for many things is JCPenny. They have several 4 poster beds in various darker woods as you said you are looking for. (Link below). I know Pottery Barn has a canopy bed as well, if you like that look. I'm not sure what Home Decorators Collection (online as well) has, but you may want to look there too. I've linked to one of their pages that has several 4 poster beds on it. Hope it helps! Here is a link that might be useful: 4 poster beds...See MoreUser
