Has anyone had success using a 10's unit?
Comments (5)Have you been seen by a physical therapist? That is the person who can give you the most info on exercises & Tens units. But they sometimes don't want to give info out. I asked at a hospital physical therapy unit if they had a page of placement spots for migraines for my tens unit that my dr. had ordered for me. They come with almost no info. The hospital people acted like I had lost my mind, asking for their secrets! No way, only patients here get that info. Since I didn't have insurance at the time I left. I didn't have much luck but few yrs ago I got another unit that seems to help more but Butterbur herb from Germany that they have to give kids now for their migraines- takes 3 mos of daily capsules to start working but some kids get rid of their headaches permanently after couple of years. Adults were supposed to get about 60% better. Sounded good to me. After 3 yrs on it I'm 85-90% better! Got a good part of my life back. Whole Foods has the herb. it hasn't had any side effects & no interactions with food or meds. Don't take hardly any migraine meds. Used to have daily headaches. Barometric changes still mess me up & smoke of any kind(so far no fires in mountains this year) Back to tens unit, I think it helped 2nd time around but I didn't keep up with it as I was doing so much better. This was while I had stress of 2 ill parents. I wonder if a glucosamine 1500mg-chondroitin-1200mg. Would help- it works on dogs & sure works on my joints. It has VitD3-1000mg added in 1 I get at Sam's Club but lot of them add MSM & I get sick from that so stick with 1 that works. It kind of strengthens or lubricates joints. The shots that are supposed to lubricate didn't work on friends that paid out of pocket for them....See Morehas anyone had an infected cyst in the parotid gland
Comments (10)Hi Morgan, Well I went to the ENT and he believed that this was a cyst in the parotid gland. He did mention surgery, but not now. The swelling had come down quite a bit in the 5 days I was on the Keflex, but hurt like you know what, if it was touched. So he wanted to drain the cyst and I said fine. A couple of injections of novacaine and a big syringe to pull out the fluid. Thing is there was no fluid coming out. All they got was a very small amount of pus that was sent off to the lab. He was very surprised. told me that if the pain got worse, the swelling got worse or I started to run a fever again to call right away. Went home and by the time I got home it was hurting like crazy again. The pain was worse where the needles went in for the novacaine and the drainage and it was hard as a rock again. Took more keflex and some tylenol and crawled back to bed. Next day seemed to be a bit better and continued on the antibiotic. By Wednesday night the pain was horrible and the swelling was getting worse. Didn't sleep all night and called the docs office the next morning and told them what was happening and could taste some drainage into my mouth again. They called me back in about 20 minutes and changed the antibiotic to Augmentum, which is worse on the stomach than the Keflex. told me to start it that evening and take it twice a day. Then find out the doc is away this week, but if it doesn't get better in a few days or gets worse or something to call and I can talk to the doc that is covering. Well the Augmentum is killing my stomach. I'm either nauseas most of the day or running to the bathroom and you have to take this med after eating a meal or it won't work. You need the food to help absorb the medicine. The good news is the swelling is almost gone in my neck and that part of me is feeling much better. The rest of me with the med is feeling horrible, but as long as I can finish the bottle, I'll be happy. Have 7 more days to go to finish as he gave me 14 days worth to take. I just hope that I can continue to finish the meds. I did have some swelling go into my cheek but that was from the swelling in my neck. I have not had any pain go into my ear though. The ENT did try to see if pressure on the swelling would cause drainage into my mouth. It didn't at the time I saw him but it did the next day. It was off and on. If I where you, I would get another opinion with another ENT doc. The one you are using doesn't seem to know what is going on. It sure wouldn't hurt to have another opinion since this has been going on for so long for you. As for surgery, I feel the same way and before I ever consented to surgery I would get at least one other opinion. Made that mistake a few years ago and had surgery on my arm and have suffered permenent disabilities since and should never have had the surgery. Long story but it was incorrect diagnosis. Would never make the same mistake twice. Let us......See MoreAnyone had lumbar surgery?
Comments (18)Good responses and help here. First, you have convinced me to have a neurosurgeon, if I decide to have the surgery. The PM doctor mentioned the name of a doctor that he is well acquainted with and worked with when he was doing his residency. Problem there is he is not local, maybe 50 miles away. After your surgery did you need to go back to see your surgeon? I'm thinking that riding that distance could be a problem. Also, did you have MRIs before the surgery, or were CT scans sufficient? I have to admit my wimpiness here, because I don't like the idea of the MRI, and have never had one. I think I would feel claustrophobic. I know they use sedation, and the PM doctor said he would suggest Valium. I have never had Valium for anything. Hi, chemocurl, aka the other Sue. Your description of the disc bursting is how the PM doctor described it to me. He demonstrated it by putting his thumb and finger together and slowly tightening it. The idea of a treadmill is good especially considering bad weather. Wanda, when the problem hit me this time, the pain was like you said, worse than childbirth. I realized I had a problem one day when I was trying to get into a line of traffic from a parking lot, and I could not move my foot from the brake to the gas pedal. I had to wait it out til I finally got it done, and went straight home. Haven't driven since that day. (That was a "revolting development!") Haven't been able to walk much since then either. The odd thing though was that pain was in my right hip. It seems like all of you have had good results, and that is encouraging. I'm really "tough" when it comes to surgeries, which I've had several of, and have never needed help at home afterwards. I think the MRI thing is the problem I need to work on. Thanks to all of you. Any more suggestions will be welcome. (this) Sue...See MoreAnyone had knee surgery for torn meniscus?
