67º today ---- It’s SNOWING!

Here in Colorado—and probably everywhere else in the
Intermountain West—we always talk about our weather CHANGING in five minutes,
but this is one of those: You Gotta Be Kidding Me days!

I had 67º in my backyard this afternoon—and it’s SNOWING
now! Actually, it’s let up pretty much
right now, but about an hour ago it was snowing hard, and it looks like I got
at least an inch, possibly more!

It was quite windy here most of the day, and I was actually
glad for it this time! There was still
snow left in my yard from the last big storm a month ago, or whenever it was,
and with the warm temps and the wind a lot of what was left “went away” for
me! I was out yesterday cleaning up all
the sunflower debris under my feeders, and there were actually a couple
“puddles” in the lawn where the snow was melting but the soil is SO saturated
that it can’t soak in anymore. I was a
little bit worried that if the puddles froze and then we got the new snow on
top of them I might break my neck when I’m out filling the feeders over the
next week or so, but the heat and wind today managed to “evaporate” the
puddles. The soil is still squishy, but
I don’t guess I’ll “slip” on frozen Squishy Soil!

So now we’re into, apparently, the next Big One! Still some varying opinions on how much we’re
gonna get here along the Front Range, but while the local TV stations seem to
still be predicting 6-12”, NOAA is showing the whole Metro Denver area as
getting 12-18” right now! Time will tell—but I’m pretty sure it’s not
gonna be 67º again for a while!!!
Tomorrow is supposed to “clear up” for a while before the “next wave”
moves in, and then it’s supposed to keep on keepin’ on until sometime on
Tuesday.

Glad I’m retired,

Skybird
