A new Goodwill opened up in Pierre. They built a big new building. Yesterday was the first time I was in it. It has been open for 2 weeks now I think. There weren't very many people in there. I probably won't be going back either. I know they brought loads of stuff in here that didn't sell any place else. They have racks and racks of clothes. I had found a couple of tshirts, but I held them up and you could see through them. So I put them back. all of there odds and ends stuff is on top of the clothes racks. I am short and I am not going to try to look at stuff that is not even organized. Looked like it was just thrown up there. Hardly anything was marked and if it was it was overpriced. I wanted to use the bathroom but I couldn't find one. There was one door that was marked employees only. I am sure that was probably it. If they built that big of a building you would have thought they would put a bathroom in it. A lot of the clothes looked old. Even the games looked old. There were a lot of ashtrays too. I can't even think of anyone even wanting to buy an ashtray. I haven't seen one for years. Maybe I was too picky I don't know. I will go to the other thrift store. All the clothes are clean and newer. I have bought sets of sheets there for 4.00 and they have them marked if they are deep pockets or not. It may not be as big put I think it is cheaper and the quality is better. Their help is all volunteer and the money goes to help the needy. I have heard that Goodwill gives very little to charity. I can't remember what their sign says. I know one part says something about employing people. I heard on the radio one day they had 13 employees and were looking for 2 more. WOW so they must each get a few hours a week.

I was a thrift store junkie for years, and have to restrain myself now to only what I need, not what I just want. We have this AWESOME Goodwill Bargain Barn here where you dig through bins of stuff and tables of clothes. Most of the clothes are last season's stuff from the regular GW, so good clothes. I've found some wonderful bargains...clothes are $1.69 a lb., so well worth the digging. Linens are $1.29 a lb., and I got a beautiful designer bed comforter and shams for less than $10. I bought a matching bed skirt at another thrift store for $5. I looked up the name brand, and most of their stuff goes for around $100 a set, so what a buy! I haven't shopped at a "real" store for so long, I wouldn't know what to do if I had to.

If you like thrift stores check out the Goodwill Industries online auction site...its an online auction sort of like ebay but the proceeds go directly to Goodwill Industries, which I feel is a very worthy cause and you cannot begin to imagine some of the bargains I have found there. I am into photography and I have bought cameras, lenses and other items for pennies on the dollar. They have all kind of categories...hobbies & crafts..kitchenwares, collectibles, cameras & camcorders, clothes, jewelry, antiques, tools and much more I will caution you though, when shopping through their listings check out the photos real well. I find that in most instances the ppl who write the descriptions know very little about what they are describing. To give you an example of what I have found there, about a year ago I bought an old 35mm film camera that came with three lenses and a carrying case. The camera works fine, but we all know that film is almost a thing of the past. What I was really interested in was the lenses because they all three work with my new Digital SLR. I bought that whole set for $26 + $8 S+H..just one of those lenses in that set is selling on Ebay right now for $199. Here is the web address: www.shopgoodwill.com

I've gotten a few things from them. They're part of a big group of catalogs. The merchandise is first quality, aimed accessibly to the middle class. It's not high class stuff, but serviceable, and shouldn't fall apart or lose its color in the first couple of washes. It should be nice fabric and well constructed. Perhaps, a little meh in the cut. If you do have an issue, the group have good customer service and you shouldn't have a problem getting it addressed.
