No much, a little cooking, laundry, etc. too cold to do much outside, but will be 50 tomorrow! Been reading most of the afternoon..

It's gloomy outside. I stayed in for the most part. I'm stuck here waiting for a wine delivery. DS often had packages shipped her but this has to be signed for. I did some paperwork and general household tasks. Saw the grands yesterday so a bit worn out. Traffic was horrid. A 35 minute trip took me 1 1/2 hours. Super bowl is already affecting traffic in our area. Glad I don't live near the stadium.

It was supposed to get very windy today. Out of the south. Thus, I booked a seat on Amtrak, and went south. Had a glorious 68.25 mile bike ride, with lots of tailwind.

Working still, but have the windows open, it is 71 outside. Planning garden work this weekend, it's supposed to be beautiful and warm.

I was planning on seeing the grands this weekend, but we've had an HR announcement that someone in the office has tested positive for TB. This is the second time in 18 months. What a hothouse of germs! I won't be going to see the babies until I get tested and get results.

I'm working on a quilt for a young cousin's first baby. The shower is tomorrow afternoon, and I am cutting it close. (ha ha--pun) I'm taking a break, but I have a feeling I'll be up late tonight.

We slept in today. First time this week, since the roofers started on Sunday. They finished yesterday afternoon, so today it's been gloriously quiet. (I think the cat is more appreciative of the quiet than we are!) Storm is expected in a little while.

It was nice and sunny but with a very brisk cold wind. A few light snow flurries.

A friend loves the Mandarin Chinese Buffet, so we did that and Costco. I love getting bargains, and for the first time, I saw a 2-lb pkg of Red Star yeast. It was under $5 which is a heck of a lot better than the $7/lb that I pay for Fleishmann's at the Bulk Barn. They didn't have the San Marzano canned tomatoes that we like though.

Let me see. I fixed my wife breakfast, and after that, went outside and sat in the sun smoking a cigar. That's about it !! I'm a lazy old bugger !!

I started the process of packing. Five boxes just of wall art and pottery and other things. Tony cannot figure out what is going on.

Tomorrow, I'll do more. Pantry time for those things that we don't use very often.

Jasdip, What!!!! I just looked at my receipt and paid $7.49 for a 4 oz jar of Red Star at Safeway yesterday. When I cleaned my refrigerator I'd noticed my use by date is tomorrow on the jar I had. And I've got a Costco list started for a trip soon, never thought to look there for yeast.

Yesterday was hectic but really good. Got a lot done. Today, I woke up with a headache and still feel blah, so mostly I've been (figuratively) poking at the slow rise dough I started yesterday. It will be a sourdough (in flavor; combo of wild and commercial yeast) multigrain (white and red whole wheat, whole rye, rolled oats, millet, sprouted pepitas, and sunflower seeds). Similar to my usual, except for the sour part, and less variety in the mixed in things. It's nearly ready for the oven. Funny that y'all are taking yeast while I'm playing with it. :)

Morz, I hadn't even heard of Red Star, and it's a little square 2-lb box, active dry yeast. It's sealed so tight it looks like a block of 'real' yeast.

My sister and I went to lunch in Huntington Beach at the Cheesecake Factory. Trying to get her out and about before her hip replacement surgery mid February and running any necessary errands. After surgery, she will be limited in what she can do, so we party now.

It is in the 20s and snowing here. I cleaned up my computer room in preparation for doing taxes( just mine and a few relatives). I made another bib for my grandson using a design I bought on Etsy. We are a Ford family. Oh and I made lasagna for supper.

Well it was nice and breezy here today so I was spring cleaning in January! I cleaned out some boxes that have accumulated in my bedroom. I gathered a box of trash, a box for Amvets and a box I am trying to resell on a FB group. I've sold one item so far. Took my son lunch at work and took my daughter to try on soccer cleats. I also have some clothes for my dh to go through but he will try to get out of it.

Up at sunrise! Big deal -- It's nearly seven by the time the sun gets over Haleakala. Cereal, coffee. Wore out my hands cleaning black marks off some stonewear dinner plates. (I should plant a camera here to see how guests do the things they do!) More coffee between nine and ten at the weekly Owners' Coffee by the lower pool. I resisted the malasadas.

Off to town (Kahului) to look for a new bedroom air conditioner, a garden bench cushion, 60W equiv. LED light bulbs, and other 'fun' things. Stopped at Safeway's Five Dollar Friday. Home too late for teatime matinee. No idea what's for dinner.

Stinky air here. Hot and dry. Vog from the volcano has been sticking around without the Trades (NE winds). Maui is drying out already -- no 'rainy season' this year. We also have had high surf; the shore break has seriously injured several visitors to the islands who were 'just wading'. Can't take your eye off the ocean here.

I began the day at 3:00 a.m., per usual. Took care of things I'm sprouting and growing - like wheatgrass and micro-greens. I started 2-quarts of water kefir and 2-1/2-cups of dairy kefir, and started the distiller (we distill our drinking/cooking water). Hubby gets up just before 4 a.m. and we exercised from 4-5. We had breakfast, we did K.P. After hubby left for work at 5:45 I cut/washed/fixed my hair.

Friday is house cleaning day, including steam-cleaning the floors. That takes most of the morning. I knit one dishcloth throughout the day in my "down" time (usually waiting on BUFF - short for buffering - my computer to perform). Hemmed a pair of pants and pair of p.j. bottoms (thrift store finds).

The weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm, so I did a short walk, but being outside makes me want to start gardening, and we're expecting a snow storm Monday night, so that quickly takes away that gardening-feeling.

Made a gluten-free banana/current cake for the weekend and cleaned up that mess. Played my "favorites" list on YouTube and sang and danced around the living room as a cheap form of exercise. I do that nearly every Friday, or I'll play Pandora and sing and dance along with the music.

Hubby took me out to dinner (he had a gift card to Applebee's). We brought home enough leftovers for lunch today. It's his way of avoiding Vegetarian Friday Meals at home (LOL).

We always watch "The Gilmore Girls" (on Netflix) on Friday night (they remind us of our daughter and granddaughter - unfortunately, we're NOT the posh parents/grandparents). Had a piece of cake. Watched an episode of "Rosemary & Thyme" and went to bed at 9 p.m.

Today I am getting ready to bake a cherry pie, do housework and whatever else I can get done. The sun is sort of out so that is a good thing! I may get a chicken out and fix someway for the weekend, maybe noodles. Lots to do so little time and energy. I am hoping someone will hook up my new and bigger television set in my bedroom this weekend, but don't know as everyone is busy and working. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

I started my day yesterday in Roanoke at 5am...up, dressed, breakfast, flew to Atlanta...stopped at Wally World for a few groceries, came home, did 6 loads of laundry, packed and put away Christmas stuff...moved logs from the front of the house to the back, cleaned the pigsty, chatted on the phone and finally called it a day at 10pm...My fitbit said I did 18,000 steps and change...for 8 miles...I don't know why I don't lose weight...but I don't! I think my body has grown accustomed to my FAT!

Sue I hate it when I have to be at the mercy for someone to help me with electronics! get out the book...read the directions and I'll bet your watching your new telly in no time!

Hi Liz, that is not the problem, the problem is the lifting up to put the television in place, then taking the one from the bedroom to the living room, the one from the living room to Norm's room. I can not lift much any more.

I'm with you, Marilyn. My new TV is still in its box, awaiting the arrival of my son-in-law. He's going to take down the older one and mount the new one for me.

I started the day with my granddaughter, son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons as we gathered for breakfast in a restaurant to celebrate my granddaughter's 25th birthday.

Sunny and 57 degrees! Spent most of the day walking the Zoo with grandchildren.

I was in London, Ontario visiting my sister who is in the hospital. She had been admitted last Monday because of an infection around her pacemaker that was so bad that you could actually see the metal of the pacemaker showing because it was falling out of her chest. It was a bit touch and go because the Doctors didn't know how they were going to fix it or if the leads to the heart were infected as well. They finally decided to put a new pacemaker in on the right side of her chest and luckily they were able to find one good vein that went across her chest to put the leads in to the heart. If they hadn't found that the good vein the outcome would not have been good.

Trying a new version of soup using a 20 oz bag of a mixture of dried beans and split peas. Decided I would try freezing some for lunches later on too, so I am using my great big soup pot. I soaked them over night, and now they are finishing up on the stove. Had a ham hock and kielbasa in the freezer to add to the soup along with onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, tomato sauce, and a few other things. Hope I like it as I have a LOT.

Bought a brand new Prius, our third.

What can I say? I don't like change...lol Although this new one does have a learning curve.

I spent today making hors d'oeuvres for the artists' reception going on right now at our gallery. DD and her girlfriend are passing food. DH is serving wine. I have to stay here in the office to greet people and give out price lists, but it's winding down now. It was wonderful today, though, partly sunny and about 47. Melted most of the little snow we had. Amazing for the end of January in upstate NY. Not so good for skiers.

It was a beautiful, mild, sunny day--I spent my afternoon at the funeral of a young friend who died too soon at 44 from cancer.

So sorry for your loss, Betsy. You're right, much too soon.
