Yup,hire a different hvac guy. Trained professionals don't need their customers to help diagnose problems. What you describe is an every day garden variety problem that is easly found while useing a vom.

It seems almost every time someone posts a problem like this, it is always assumed the safety switch is not working properly and it needs to be changed. Then the switch is replaced and the problem happens again. Again it assumed the new switch is also bad, so a third switch is needed.

These switches rarely fail, and when they do, the probability of the replacement switch failing is even lower. Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose. But as Klem1 said an experienced tech with a voltmeter should be able to figure it out. It takes patience and good trouble shooting skills.

Check if any changes have occurred with the flue. If the exhaust is partially blocked the safety switch will trip and save your life.

He is a professional HVAC guy they have been in business for generations, father and son etc. They have worked on our heat and ac since we moved here. And most of my neighbors.

He has been trouble shooting the problem, and has tried all of that. In fact he even called in another HVAC person he knows from another company. Mike thanks, he only changed that part once and it was because I asked him to. I Appreciate that.

Of course he didn't ask his customer to troubleshoot for him. I did that all on my own because I thought perhaps there would be Nice helpful people here on this forum that would actually have a real suggestion. I have been on various GW forums for years and years, I have worked on the computer help forum and others, I volunteer my help on many other very professional computer help forums.

Apparently I was very wrong about this one. I don't understand if it's such an easy fix why it can't be mentioned rather than insult me for simply asking a legitimate question.

I may seem a little upset, I am a senior lady in a wheelchair and I am cold, no the heater is not coming on currently, sorry.

Raven,we can give you a list of things that might possibly cause this but it still require's the same skill to test all of them. Figuring things out long distance is 10 times more difficult to begain with than hands on. Doing it long distance through a third party ( you ) that doesn't speak and understand electric circuit schematic diagrams make's it next to impossible. If you work on the hardware end of computors,say so, break out your meter and we'll try and help you fix it. Otherwise it's best the tech ask's his own questions after giving us a detailed discription of what he has done so far. First do as Mike suggested in looking for rat nests in flue then set the t-stat calling for heat and put volt meter across each wire connection and device in heat circuit. The one that read's voltage across it is 90% chance being the culprit. If no joy,start at gas valve working toward service connection to public supply testing for pressure. Where pressure is low or non existant is naturally the problem area.

I've never heard of an HVAC contractor calling a competitor for help.

The reason why a good tech can work on any brand is because most of the units are similar and also pretty simple. There aren't many parts or many variables to consider. A tech having trouble diagnosing and fixing a problem makes one wonder just how capable he is.

Occasionally, the draft fan will develop an air leak around the mating surfaces where it mounts to the furnace, especially if it is metal rather than plastic. It can develop rust. If the draft fan has been replaced, they sometimes don't come with the gaskets. If there is any kind of leak, i would recommend. taking the draft fan off and sealing it with RED silicone. That should fix it if that's the problem. Just my two cents and worth what you paid.
