Comments (10)I did remove all the grass(finally!) in the back and front yard. It took three truckloads of mulch as well as probably 100 bags of mulch from HD(before I realized we had this delivery service available!) I dug up the lawn in the backyard first and that was painful. For the front yard I just threw some weed and grass killer on the stuff and just threw some fabric and 3 inches of mulch. I have to plant stuff ASAP now because those darn weeds are growing right on top of the mulch!!argh!!front yard faces south so lots of sun and this really gets those weeds going fast. I have seen so many earthworms in the backyard, I ammended the soil as well as digging up all the grass(used black cow and tons of top soil and some better garden soil if I could afford it) and it is all thriving back there. I appreciate all your positive feedback and , Cheryl, I did have an amazing time at your yard tour and still can't decide where to put the dombeya I picked up there! I'm thinking in a container on the patio maybe.not sure. teeka...See MoreHi newbie here - looking for slideshow progams
Comments (3)Most people don't like the music, I use JAlbum which I love, they have a new version available, haven't looked into that yet. You can google it, it is free. Never read any directions, it took a bit, but I clicked around and got it to working and uploaded to my webspace. What I like about slideshows is that I shoot a lot of photos in RAW, I can automatically convert them unedited for "proofs" using PS CS2 scripts, then create the slideshow so people can see the photos right away. Later, I decide which ones I will use or others want prints made from and do a lot of post processing on those to get ready for printed output. I like to crop to size and correct aspect ratio myself rather than have some machine do it for me at the printers....See More16-20 Cardinals… How many do you see?
Comments (0)Hey! This is my first time posting in the bird section. Anyway, I thought I would share a couple pictures I took a couple months ago when the weather was colder here in the Midwest. I see at least 16 cardinals but I think there are closer to 20 (the ones that aren’t bright red are harder to see). I’m a beginner when it comes to this stuff. Probably a little over a year ago (or longer) I found myself in Walmart, stopped, and looking at bird seed. Not only did I find it odd that I was looking at bird seed, but it was confirmation I was getting old HAHAHA… Furthermore, I bought the seed. I placed seeds on my back deck rail and would watch the birds in the morning as I drank my coffee. After about a week I found myself getting more and more birds. Then I started feeding them at lunch time. Before long, I told my husband it was time to buy a bird feeder. I bought the cheap ones but they have held up. Long story short, I started with a bag of seed, which lead to one bird feeder, which eventually lead to several feeders. I don’t use them all during the summer months. I’m also starting to look for higher quality feeders. I bought my first droll yankee feeder the other day at Walmart (finch feeder). I was so excited too. I was at Lowes first but didn’t see any finch feeders I liked. Plus, they were all made in China. So I checked out Walmart and was happy to find an American made feeder. I started seeing the yellow finches within about 3 days of putting the feeder out there. Far away view from my back porch... close up (sorry it's blurry)...See Morecan anyone help me see what black replacement windows look like?
Comments (12)I don't think black windows are quite right for the style of the house because the frames of your windows are substantial even when the wide trim is painted the body color. My window sashes are black but they are very narrow and the house is modernist and was originally drawn with black steel windows. The various eras of houses in my neighborhood which have black sashes (houses up to 200 years old), it mostly seems to work with a very narrow early 19th c. sash, or, if the body color of the house is very dark, like dark red brick. Black looks different and new on your house, but I don't think it looks better......See Moresandyslopes z5 n. UT
