Please advise! Should I paint some of my interior brick walls?
Comments (1)No - start by adding some artwork, lighting and other accents to break up all the brick. I would never paint natural surfaces (wood, stone, brick) that are in decent shape. It's a beautiful home - don't ruin it....See MorePlease advise! Should I paint some of my interior brick walls?
Comments (11)Once brick is painted, there is no turning back, ever, ever, ever. Not even just a small section. It is not like wall paint that can just be returned to a former palette. Please do as many have advised, and wait before jumping on the paint bandwagon. I would say even wait a year, to give yourself time to truly become settled in your new place and go through different seasons of decorating. Don’t be swayed by the current decorating trends as they will change many times over the life of a house. I live in a 1880’s home that has a brick wall in the kitchen to which previous owners glued linoleum -fake tile in the 1950’s, no doubt, because it was the decorating trend of the day. That glue seems to be there to stay for eternity. So we really have no choice but to paint, but would have loved to keep the original brick if it had been in better shape....See MoreShould I paint my Mid Century Modern brick home?
Comments (17)Your realtor is giving bad advice, leave the brick alone, you will disappoint the diehard MCM buyers. Your eye goes to light colours first, so leave all the trim especially at the roofline light, no black. If it was my home, I would consider painting the walls a warm taupe/grey, it has to work with the roof color, the brick and the mortar. Choose your colors carefully, you should hire a color expert to be on site. Or don’t paint at all, leave it to the buyer. Maybe the wood at the entry can be restored. Please don’t change anything that is authentic. This example photo shows how the wall and carport support was painted a color to work well with the brick....See MoreShould I whitewash (paint) the exterior brick wall?
Comments (1)You can LIMEWASH THE BRICK NO PAINT because acrylic exterior paint will peel over time. Lots of videos on YouTube and this is what I would recommend to age your home to a unique appearance. https://www.southernliving.com/home-garden/decorating/peter-block-makeover?slide=938132a3-d992-44be-8b20-4d0cbe446937#938132a3-d992-44be-8b20-4d0cbe446937 The Limewash takes on a vintage appearance. You can put on as much or as little as you like. It imparts NO TEXTURE just color. The brick can be more see thru....See MoreGary Jouas
