New Problem - What to Say?

I anticipated this problem and here it is:

Starting 3-4 days ago my SW sees herself in the bathroom mirror and believes it is a male invading her privacy when she wants to “go”. Mostly in a mirror she sees her "girlfriend” with whom she has many a fine conversation; a really nice girl - I’ve met her a couple times - she’s just the sweetest thing. :-)

Anyway I’m at a loss as to how to intervene with this male intruder. So far he only shows up in the bathroom mirror and only at these critical times. Today I tried to point out that he couldn’t see her while she’s on the pot. That worked once. Still she has to pass by him to get to the pot. Next I’ll escort her past the intruder then exit the BR and close the door. Hope that works and it might because after the event she talks to her friend while washing up. About that time Mr. Intruder seems to have made himself scarce.

The mirror is 4-½ ft long by 3-½ ft high so covering it would be a bit much plus where would her girl friend go? Plus how could she brush out and ruin a brand new perm w/o that mirror? The bedroom mirror covers one wall - plenty of room for her friend. So far the ‘he’ hasn’t been there. Mr. Google merely explains the problem as usual. Hells fire I understand the problem. I need some fresh ideas on how to handle it and distract her attention from that intruder.

You could try telling her that he is a nurse guarding her. Only other thing is to put a foldable screen in front of the mirror.

Been a while-

It doesn’t happen all the time and seems to occur early afternoon. We have 2 BR’s and I can steer her to the other - she forgets it’s there - if I observe the problem.

Big BR: I covered the half of the mirror nearest the door with brown wrapping paper (we have a big wide roll). Looks like hell but seems to lessen the problem. My intent was it would give her a good start going in and maybe her momentum would get her past the uncovered half. Partial success. I didn’t want to mount hardware to the wallpapered wall.

Small BR: I hung a towel from the cabinet with a couple magnets, I can roll the towel up so it sits on top of the cabinet. The cabinet is mounted on the wall instead of in the wall so I don’t have to lean over so damn far to shave.

Is there a way to check for holes in the liner, other than draining the whole thing and taking it out??? It's half full of water right now! I don't think it's a fold acting as a siphon because I added water to it this morning until I had to leave for my son's baseball games and it was only about 2/3 of the way full but when we came home the water level had dropped to about 1/2...just rough estimates! If there's a hole, would there be bubbles or anything?? I'm about ready to just give up!!

Good to hear from you Maryliz....wow you have been busy...I took a fabric dying class and it was a lot of fun...not something I want to do much of in my house. I am going to visit a lady for a class on painting on fabric and then you put it in the sun to set the colors...maybe then I can decide what I want to invest my money in, paint or dyes. Wonderful you are moving your sewing out of the basement to your very own space....you will love it...don't forget to include good lighting in your new room...aren't hubbys wonderful when it comes to our hobby. This summer is pretty quiet for us...last year we painted the house, garage, fences...15 gal. of paint and my shoulder still complains. We also had quite a bit of company and I did get to the Moose Jaw Quilt Show in April...so I guess I will enjoy seeing pictures and writeups on trips others take this year. I have dragged out a quilt that I started quilting in 2003 by machine....gave up because it was too heavy....couldn't get the stitching out so now I am hand quilting what is left. This was a block exchange my guild did so I treasure it. Looking back I sure have learned a lot...my borders are terrible...I did diamonds on the sides and they didn't work out even...I am chuckling as it is almost ugly. The fact that he did not know how to look for the gas leak bothers me, your pool guy should have done the soap test, thats step 1. Get a second opinion or two, and quotes.

That's a wonderful idea. She's coming today around noon to pick it up. I'm almost certain she will be thrilled with it. I keep staring at it and smiling. I took pictures before of the other gowns I did and then my computer crashed and I lost all my pictures. Luckily, they were friend's babies, so they resent me some pictures.

Sounds as if you creatively and (mostly) solved the problem. At the very least, her quirks keep your mind active finding solutions. ;-)
