I maybe should interpret no response as an indication no one would recommend a Bosch.

I have had a Bosch 300 series for 4 years and have loved it! We had 3 different KitchenAids in the 12 years previous, and I was so glad to be done with KA. We just sold out house and are renovating our next home. I am buying another 300 series Bosch, because I don't care about all the bells and whistles.

I recommend Bosch! We put a bottom of the line one in our first house and loved it. Same in the second house. This house I specified a 300 series because the bottom of the line no longer had an entirely stainless steel interior. My gc said he'd found an 800 series on sale for the same price as the 300 I specified and asked if I wanted that instead. I said yes, please. It's been in for a couple of years now and works wonderfully. My only problem has been that the front is stainless and has rust spots. So I would suggest perhaps researching whether that has been a problem for others and if so getting white, black or panel ready.

Have a Bosch and am very happy with it.

Am amazed at how quiet it is. First time I used it, I stopped it mid-cycle because I thought it was not working/ running.

I am getting the 800 series. It is really hard for me to tell the difference between the 500 and 800 series, but the racks of the 800 series are a bit more customizable. It will be my first Bosch but my mom and sister have them and are pleased with them. My sister's is old, but still running like a champ and my mom recently got the 800 series and is pleased with it. It will be the only Bosch in my mixed bag kitchen.

3katz - what did you finally select? We're shopping for a Bosch and there are so many different models to choose from that it gets confusing.

Like mdln I have a Bosch SHX3AR55UC in my new home and am completely happy with it. I have a SHE3AR5Xuc in my rental property, and an older 500 series Bosch in my former home. Best dishwashers ever.

Bosch Benchmark dishwasher panel ready here and it is awesome. The top rack for silverware literally lines up with my silverware drawer so unloading is amazingly easy. You do have to get used to the tighter tines for plates and bowls on the bottom level but the top level adjusts for big wine glasses for example. Very quiet. I have also had to get used to cleaning the filter but I don't mind doing that anymore. Ours shows the time left on the floor which is very cool. We've been used it for almost one year.

Thanks mayan- we're probably going with one of the Benchmarks. I like the way the cutlery rack adjusts too.

I just saw this thread and wanted to weigh in. We have had a Benchmark dishwasher since last March and could not be more pleased with its cleaning performance. Love the top cutlery rack- we use it for cooking utensils, knives and small lids/items. We have model SHP7PT55UC with pocket handle. The interior panel in the pocket handle cracked and was repaired a few months ago (a problem I read about on Amazon reviews and covered by warranty). The replacement part has been improved upon - time will tell. This machine is very quiet and does a great job with half the detergent I used before in our old KA. Recommend a liquid cleaner with this model. We tried three kinds- Cascade and Kirkland/Costco pods and Cascade liquid. No regrets spending a little more on is dw and highly recommend it!

I have an 800. Don't like the racks and hate the stink. Because there is no heating element it is always a tad funky. Won't recommend.

I ended up with an 800 series and I'm very happy with it. I think I've had it about a year and would highly recommend. I have no problem with the racks and it doesn't stink. I think rack satisfaction has a lot to do with the type of dishes and other cooking implements one uses which is why some people take their dishes to the showroom to test. I've never been that picky so have never done that. I imagine stink may be related to usage habits - what you put in it and how long you leave it there. And maybe if you put dishes and cookware in with large pieces of food debris maybe it ends up in the filter. I don't put that sort of stuff in mine and rarely clean the filter. When I do there's nothing in there.

I have noticed this dishwasher closes tight every time unless you consciously try to leave it ajar which is somewhat difficult to do. Sometimes I leave mine open a bit to dry after a cycle if it looks wet inside. The idea of an enclosed, warm, dark, moist place conjures up images of a petri dish....

No stink on mine either but I am a little worried about future issues. I think I read somewhere that it might be from a poor installation job but I might be wrong. I clean the filter about every other week.

We had a master plumber install it...it is from remaining moisture in the unit bc of lack of a heating element...it isn't that bad...but I won't get another one

The Bosch actually has a heating element. It's built into the pump and is one of the fastest water heating dishwashers out there. For best drying the manual recommends the Sanitize mode

I have had no trouble with dishes and glassware drying on on auto mode. Plastic lids need a shake off but other than those, everything dries well. I run a cycle after dinner and unload in the morning. We do not rinse dishes and wash at least every other day. We have had no Unpleasant smells and I cleaned the filter today for the first time in a year. Never having a dw that had a filter to clean, I forgot all about it until reading these posts. I expected ugly, but it wasn't bad at all and cleaned right up with minimal effort. I wasn't happy with the detergent smell on dishes at the beginning so reduced the amount of liquid detergent and still have sparking dishes and glasses. This dw does use more rinse aid than any other machine I've had but I'm not complaining!☺️

I adjusted the amount of rinse aid mine uses. The factory setting was more than necessary for adequate drying.
