Sad there are so many thoughtless texters :o( I am one that does not text. Do not see the reason to text.

One person on his phone walked off a cliff last week to his death.

Well, you know about the horrible, tragic train crash, right?

I knew we were headed for problems when I saw my very first driver in a car on a phone years ago. He also had a steaming hot beverage in a mug (not a covered travel mug, an open glass mug) in his steering hand, and a lit cigarette between the fingers of the hand that held the mug that was steering the car. I assumed he must also be suicidal driving under those conditions and turned at the next corner to avoid any potential accident.... I would have made a great witness. It was like this Officer. This IDIOT was driving while....

I was behind a driver weaving all over the place, he almost hit the curb a couple times. Then he went over the RR track I could see right in front of his face was his cell phone. He was making a turn at an intersection with a RR crossing and all the while had his phone up in the air in front of his face. I just don't know what has gotten into people but some of them are just too stupid to be behind the wheel! UGH! Texting isn't even the half of it, now you can do anything on your phone that you once had to do on your computer sitting at a desk.

I was backing out of a parking lot at Wal-Mart & had a person walk right behind me while texting. I easily could have hit him, he was oblivious until I hit my brake & honked.

Driving on the Gulf Freeway, I glanced over at the car beside me and the woman was reading on her kindle.

I really don't understand the need to text, why not call or leave a message on their voice mail. I do not text. I email or phone. Sometimes even write.

On our very busy provincial highway, the tractor-trailer was straying over the line, then back again, weaving back and forth. I finally got the nerve to pass him, and because he had a window on the lower part of his door, I could see his left leg cocked up, elbow on his knee holding his cell phone, texting. Driving a rig. Geez.

There are a lot of idiots out there, on a phone somehow. Best idea is to turn, and let the idiot get out of your way before continuing on. Or, at least, that is my way of handling such behavior.

We were driving a major Street here in the Houston area, bumper to bumper traffic, in the lane beside me were 2 constable police cars one behind the other. I could look down right into their windows from my seat in the Hummer. Both of them were texting! I swear I never saw either of them look up at the road the entire time we were driving down the street beside them. Once one of them got a call and answered the cell phone then directly back to texting. I just thought if a family with kids happened to be beside them, the kids would say look see it is OK to text and drive! The police are doing it.

I took down the car number and the information off the car and seriously considered reporting it. I didn't because I didn't have proof I should have taken pictures with my phone. I was not driving I was in the passenger seat.

I had a girl at the mall text walk right smack into my lap in my bright red wheelchair! And she gave me a dirty look, I was sitting still, saw it coming but could not avoid her.

When you saw her coming ... could you have said, "Beep! Beep!"?

In your situation, had I thought in time, when she looked annoyed, I might have said, "Young lady ... if you're not more careful about where you're going while texting ... your next stop may be a wheelchair like this ... or a coffin, maybe?"

I've asked some folks in a similar situation if they know how to get tire tracks across their legs ... it may well be while walking from the mall to their car in the parking lot, then I hold out my left hand with palm up and fingers bent like holding something, and have the fingers on my right hand dancing over it like they do while texting, while having my head bent down, watching.

Some are somewhat thoughtful ... others rather dismissive: see themselves as indestructible, I guess.

Dad used to say that it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks ... but sometimes that goes equally for young dogs, too, I think. (not to "biIch" about anything, you understand)
