Comments (4)Finished small spaces that belong to another will not help you. A plan, and a careful editing to what will fit, attractively and safely will help you. I would advise getting your hands on the floor plan. or doing a measure yourself. Then, a visit of her own furniture, with comfortable seating, and bed of first concern. Sometimes an "outsider" can be the best route. Significant reduction in living circumstances is emotional, at any age, but more so after decades of memories are involved.. ......there are often local sources that can help with this very specific issue. Below....... an actual "visual" sent to ninety year old client moving soon to much reduced space. Very nervous I might add and MUCH emotion involved. : ) But she is spry, a lover of beauty, and she understands now, that not everything from her 4000 s feet can fit in 1000. The baths and kitchen not shown here... but, principal is same. That's what you will need to do. Plan it out. Calmly lol...See MoreCritique My Parents Possible Retirement Home Please
Comments (100)dchall_san_antonio: What I think is hilarious is that I already answered your question of 10ft ceilings up thread and yet you are asking again for some reason. Here's what I said" They want the grand feeling that 10 ft ceilings offer. And yes, my Dad is 6'5." Not to mention 10 ft ceilings are more efficient to cool in warm climates as you correctly assumed the home will be in. But someone in the appraisal business should already know that, right? So does that mean you can give back the 15 yard penalty now? Let me correct you on a few more items. Don't assume my parents will not use an outdoor kitchen. They have one now and it is used at least twice a week in nice weather. Now that they will be moving to a warm climate it will be used even more. I clearly said they thought this home was a "good value" as they want to put a lot of money into a boat with storage and the pool area. So the assumption that "money is no object " is absurd. I talked about and the plan shows a large linen closet near bedrooms 2 and 3. And a linen cabinet in the Master bath. So to say "One linen shelf for four bedrooms and three bedrooms is not enough. " is again, incorrect. The great room plan is 25'4" x 17' 9". So wrong on that point as well. Wow, you must be up to at least a 50 yard penalty for all the incorrect assumptions and lack of comprehension!...See Moreaddition to retirement home advice
Comments (15)I would put the t.v. and fireplace on the right wall, with the t.v. in nice built-in cabinets next to the fireplace. There are LOTS of images of that arrangement on here to give you inspiration. As for furniture arrangement, it would really depend on what furniture you want. It would be easy to do a sectional with one side along the back wall and the other facing the t.v. fireplace, or two couches in a similar arrangement. Then a chair in the lower right corner, or two chairs facing in to the grouping. That would leave you with room behind the sofa to you however makes the most sense to you. It could be a game table or another conversation grouping of chairs or a grand piano, or whatever fits your lifestyle best....See MorePlease help with the kitchen in our retirement home
Comments (9)Dear mabeldingeldine, If you're thinking of removing walls, you should have a partial house plan drafted including the spaces that are adjacent to your kitchen first. You may be able to do this using the software you’re familiar with already. This way anyone responding can "see" what you're talking about and what the impact to your house plan will be without guessing. As an example: Remove the wall between the hall and the kitchen? How wide is the hall, which kitchen wall is it on? How much wider or deeper will your kitchen potentially be? Etc. Also, seeing your house plan may help you make decisions on exactly what you are willing to do, or how far you’re willing to go with the reconfiguration of your house plan, to get what’s truly possible for you. Hope this has been helpful. Joe Brandao Kitchen Design Company...See Moredandyrandylou
