LOL Sue! Sure did! We shoveled the sidewalks and parking lot and uncovered our hopefully more prosperous 2016 while we were out there.

Wouldn't you know it, the ground was frozen and it took great efforts to get to that money.

Not yet, but I have dashed out the side door to the garage - in a long pink fleece gown, black thermal pants, and multi-colored polka-dotted rain boots (gotta entertain the neighbors! ) to get two buckets full of black oil sunflower seed and suet cakes to fill the front yard feeders.

I dashed back in, carried the buckets through the house, and pre-staged them on the front deck.

Once I get my lazy self properly dressed and bundled up I'll go out front to top off and refill all the feeders - and dig up my prosperous 2016.

I did. It's a good thing I used an outside planter as the ground is frozen.

Because of the frozen ground, I planted my money in an African violet planter on the kitchen window sill. To remind myself to un-cover it, I placed a quarter on the sill. i pulled it out at noon, put it in a baggie and will put that in my jewel box for this coming NYE 2016.

Not yet, but I will later. I'm letting it "percolate" a little bit...maybe make the mojo stronger. :D

Well dang. I missed that other thread until too late. If I lived closer to the rest of you, I could have come into some unexpected money by digging up the planters near your trowels before you got back to it. ;) I'm not superstitious enough to bury my own.

Although, maybe not worth it considering you are talking about frozen ground...and I'm in shorts-weather country.

Well, I'm pleased to say that our first unexpected money just came in today. Not a whole lot but what a surprised for my DH.

Recovered mine. Left it in its baggie and taped the baggie to my new 2016 calendar on the December page.

I wish I had dug mine up when I was out feeding the horses. Now it is raining and I have to go back out to get it. I buried it in one of my worm beds.

Well, I started out to get mine and it is raining harder than ever....and it is a cold rain and the worm bed is under a big, drippy live oak tree. I am going to have to forget about it and hope for the best. I may leave it buried all year....see what happens then. ;) I'm sure not going out in this cold rain tonight.

I brought my wealth and good fortune in about an hour ago. The disturbed soil, leaves, compost, and snow I had buried it under had really frozen. I'm glad I put a deep hand print in the snow above the dollar or I would have never found it.

Marilyn, can you put on your hubby's fishing gear and brave the rain and leaky tree? Run out; retrieve the money; run back in; and then take a hot shower to warm up. I want you to have a healthy, wealthy, and fortunate 2016! If I were there I'd do it for you with a happy heart.

Marilyn you have worm beds??? I didn't know that! I have worms in our apt, have had them for years.

I did go get it, Caroline. I was out and back in a flash! Jasdip, I have 3 worm beds. I knew you had them too. I started out raising them to feed to the baby possums that I raise, I was given a possum with metabolic bone disorder that was caused by a very poor diet, and so he was literally walking on his elbows, and I tried to reverse as much of it as I could by feeding him a completely natural diet...except he also got yogurt. I couldn't reverse it completely but he did improve enough that he could live comfortably.....but only as a non releasable possum. I thought I was going to have to put him down. It is usually caused by people feeding them too much fruit and not a balanced diet. Lack of calcium.

I think that I heard of this years ago .. but haven't been involved for years.

If it's a dollar that's involved (or two) , the Canadian stuff'd be better, as they're metal.

And ... you can get one for 71 cents or so in "real money" ... but it'd have cost you about $1.06 a couple of years ago (for a brief period).

I'll have to try it, next year, maybe somewhere in the garden ...

... but, with my bad memory, I'd have to put up a labeled stick on the location ... with a note on the fridge door to remind me to go looking.

Has anyone gotten a windfall? Even a little one?

Well, kind of. We paid off our mortgage. When the check for the escrow balance arrived, my husband left it to me to spend, save whatever. I deposited it.

I got $8 on a $3 scratch ticket, and $13 on another $3 ticket today. So $21 so far.

i got a job.

ALL RIGHT!! That's what we want to hear! Congrats to everybody.

I won $5 on a lottery ticket and promptly bought another one but haven't checked the numbers on that one yet.

If I had a reason to leave the farm today, I would get a ticket. It's above zero so maybe that's a reason? I don't want the big one. A million would be more than enough.

well I uncovered mine but I thought I was supposed to receive, not for something else to break down and need more of my money. All I can do is laugh.
