Does this cabinet hardware look ok?
Comments (11)Thanks, they are 3in... It's so funny for me to be on this site, because I get caught up in how very nice everyone's things are (granite, appliances, etc.) and know that we have laminate and are on a tight budget...but i really am happy with how things are coming together! some day we will get there...i will post pictures once we get it a little more pulled together! thank you!...See MoreDoes granite look ok in fluorescent light?
Comments (7)I just got my under cabinet lights installed yesterday and the contractor used cool white bulbs. When you think of "fluorescent light" you are thinking of cool-white bulbs. If you get warm white (as ours will soon by replaced to be) it will look just like halogen or incandescent. Look for warm white on the package or anywhere between 2700-3000K (K stands for Kelvin which describes the "color" of the light). Your granite will look beautiful. You will save energy and money and you will not heat your kitchen with all that light in the summer. Best of all, you don't have to take our word for it. Go buy a CFL (compact fluorescent) bulb that says warm white or (2700-3000K) and try it over your sample. Be sure to give the bulb a minute or so to warm up to see its true color. You can try a halogen bulb right next to it and you'll see. If you want to see the stark difference of "regular" fluorescent try a cool white CFL too. - Jim...See MoreShow me your Granite... with Cherry Cabinets and Cherry Floors!
Comments (16)Hi there! My cabinets are Cherry with an Amber stain. We have Bianco Antico for our granite. I think the contrast of dark cabinets and floors go well with the lighter granite that has dark streaks running through it. I'm not sure about posting pictures, but I'll give it a try. Hope this helps....See MoreWhich Budget Quartz or Granite for Cherry Cabinets
Comments (4)A lot of people here are going to say you shouldn't raise the breakfast bar, that the counter height peninsula is more "current". However I can see where you might want to raise it because your sink is there. If you leave it one height maybe a bigger sink would help? Regarding your actual question about counters, I am also looking for a light quartz/granite (also budget lol). In my area (Mid-Atlantic), Q Quartz seems to be well priced. Also Hanstone. One store showed me a gorgeous Fantasy Brown Quartzite (real stone) that was fairly well-priced but had too much movement for my cabinets. And of course the lower priced granites are well-priced but I haven't found need I love yet. BTW, I love your cabinets and I'm glad you're not painting them!...See Moresmstefo
