Windows Explorer in W10

My laptop with Windows 10 issued yesterday a note saying that Adobe wanted to upgrade. I said to proceed and it downloaded a file that I was then supposed to open in order to start the upgrade process. Well, since Windows 8/10 have no Windows Explorer, I have no way to find or browse thru folders or do file name searches like I used to. Worse, I no longer remember the file name but I thought that, if I would browse some folders with the word 'download', I may find the file or at least a file created yesterday that may be "the" one.

How can I do those things now?

I think if you right click on the start button and select File Explorer from the list it may help you.

Where is it? I tried looking on the left and right-hand margins of the screen.

Before W10 was installed (by the way, I have never used W8 or 10), touching the left-right margins of the screen showed different "things/displays" so I am now confused. Not sure if what I see is supposed to be displayed but, when I touch the left hand margin, a small window displays.. titled Skype. If I touch the right-hand margin, something called Action Center displays. But I do not see anything labeled start button.

The internal light and the electric window regulator may be two separate problems, but could be related. Don't be surprised if these are not related. The simplifed checkout procedures found in repair manuals may indicate a bad switch assembly - but don't believe that right-away without further checks. Sometimes, the problem is broken wires in a boot going from the door to the body. This bundle flexes each time the door is opened and wires have been know to part inside their insulation without breaking the extruded insulation. Such breaks usually happen with the driver's door, although the other doors are not totally immune. The driver's door has the big bundle. Remove the switch assembly and check it for continuity in all switch positions before replacing. Hopefully, John_G will chime in and tell us more. He knows about the various methods that Ford uses for controllng the interior lamps

3GB is pretty adequate for general activities. I am just wondering if you are over demanding with your desired task. As a test you could disable your AV and other security applications you have running. Then try your task. If you are successful then I am correct in my thoughts. You are demanding too much of your system at the same time. Remember to enable the applications you had turned off. Back in the old days as the abilities of Win98 compatible software was increasing the systems were lagging as the cost was much higher to replace for the average user. It was not uncommon to have to shut applications down to dedicate all the available power and resources to the desired task. DA

If they did that they would have a TON of windows updates to do plus likely all 3 service packs to deal with. Any of those items you listed try doing a google search for them and you will quickly find out what they belong to, or use a program like free start up lite by the makers of malwarebytes. StartUpLite avg= your antivirus is AVG? you do not want to stop that for sure. you can use a process library to find what each one is and does, what ever you do, DO NOT use a registry cleaner! if this is a dell then the dsca is a dell file C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\custom\dsca.exe DSCA is Dell's remote-support app. If you're relying on Dell's remote-desktop support, do not delete it. but it does not need to be in your start up list. msseces.exe (Microsoft Security Essentials) are you using both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials on your pc for Antivirus? if so you need to fully remove one of them you should only run one full time AV at a time that will cause conflicts. smax4pnp.exe (SoundMax controls) you can look up the rest of them there at the pcpitstop library if you want. another good free program that can help you with this kind of stuff is winpatrol WinPatrol

anyone still using IE6 on their computer is seriously jeopardizing the safety of their pc, MS stopped updating IE6, it is essential to update to a newer version asap. Websites are no longer supporting IE6 so many things will not work. The most important thing however is the huge holes in IE6 that are no longer being patched which leave you wide open to nasties. If you insist on not doing IE8 then definitely at the very least get IE7 NOW Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP Please understand that leaving IE6 on your pc and simply using a different browser does NOT necessarily help in blocking your exposure. Downloading and installing IE7 will take care of that so would IE8. Then if you choose to use firefox instead you are good to go but definitely update from IE6.

The start button is in the very lower left corner of the screen on the task bar, it looks like 4 little white windows, right click on it.

Oh! Cool! I never touched the lower left margin area of the screen but now I did and saw the bar display as you said! I then clicked the 4 squares/windows and saw the File Explorer. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :o)

Luis, In the Taskbar (Same Bar as the Start Button is in) you should also find a Icon with a Picture of a Folder, clicking on the Folder will take you to File Explorer also!

Windows 10 isn't all that different from other Windows Operating Systems like Windows 98, XP, Vista or Windows 7. They do have a couple of things that are Labeled differently like Windows Explorer being named File Explorer or My Computer/Computer is now labeled This PC!

Don't be afraid to click on a few things! You may want to consider watching a couple of videos on YouTube about using Windows 10. They can help you tremendously. Windows 10 Tricks and Tips

Yes, thanks for reminding me about Youtube. I have gone to Youtube before but the videos or non-Youtube articles that I selected were either not useful or too complicated so I stopped going there.

Sure won't hurt to watch a few Videos and Try their suggestions as you go (pause the Video and try out what they're teaching you)! Use the Link I provided above: Windows 10 Tricks and Tips (just click on the Green: Windows 10 Tricks and Tips to the left).

Sometimes finding useful things on YouTube depend upon your Wording when looking (same as a google search, it's all in the wording)!
