Alright ^_^. Kay:Truthfully I have asked my brother many times but as he had grown his all from seeds, they are still rather small and I think only two of his have even forked. Haha I may try that, may have to work up the courage to ask though ;P. Do you know if most plumeria growers know the "name" of their plumeria? I'd hate to ask some one for a cutting and afterwards find out that they don't know the name of it...I love all plumerias don't get me wrong ^_^ they're all very very beautiful flowers. I just always like my flowers when they have names :P. Andrew: To be true, I have looked at Home depot and Lowes just this week, however the only species I found was an un-named "yellow flower" that looked like it was sunburned near the bottom of the trunk. However, I know that we will be having a plant sale at my school where I had purchased a very nice three pronged plumeria in the fall so I probably will check them out again ^_^. Yeah I read about the 50 degrees minimum somewhere Nova. Thanks for the reminder! Your right about the strong winds, we do get them here more then not because of the openness we have. Just the other night my neighbor who just bought 6 pecan trees last year tilted over cause the wind. Not enough T-post anchors! Anyway I did read on the potting, I was going to try the 7/5 like some pointed out. And I was going to pot them in the ground with a raised bed as you suggested.I have space I can store them in +50 degrees in the cold weather so it shouldnt be a problem. That is until they get too tall! But Im still working on the seeds, so thats not a problem. Ill probably end up being hooked by then and just build a green house like some of you! So the 7/5 or any sinking method would be best for my zone 7 right? And they Dont like wind you say? so I would have to put it close to the house when I have them out for summer? Maybe some more info would be helpful... Our night temps, all year this year, have been in the mid to lower 50s... with daytime temps ranging from 65-75, I think we might've hit 80 once. I have a re-purposed 1/4 pie shaped cold frame, that's about 3 ft tall in the back. The back of the coldframe has dark landscape fabric on it to make it warmer. It gets upwards of 110f inside on sunny days, even with the vents open. I could shade the front with landscape cloth as well, that'd probably hold 80-90f if I did that. I'm thinking I could lay a thick layer of landscape fabric on the ground, and shade the front with more, and start my plumeria cuttings in there, this year, but I'm not sure if I SHOULD start them growing this year. It seems iffy to me to keep them as they are, until next May... or June even... This year's spring was loooooooong and cool, and kinda odd at that, same with last year. Generally spring starts in March and goes through late May, then it heats up, and we get almost no rain at all until October. As of right now, Aug 2, it hasn't rained a drop in over a month. As for feeding any cuttings, I make my own compost, from kitchen scraps and yard scraps and dried fall leaves. I can make compost tea for the plumies, or just use the compost, I have no fear it's not well draining, as I see to it that my plants get the soil they need, regardless of what they are. As for winter, I bring potted plants inside, and most of them get east window / florescent light treatment, and watering only when the soil is dry. SO, how does all this sound, what do I need to do with these new plumeria cuttings right now? Should I wait, should I plant? I'm so excited, I can't believe I got ten cuttings :D I have hundreds and hundreds of pics of my garden, from its start until today, how best to share them here if I want to?
