Today is cloudy high to be 77º. Tomorrow is calling for 100% chance of rain again. We have had 6½" in the last 3 days.

We've had some degree of rain since Tuesday, but very warm for here this time of year. Christmas day it was 80. DD said, "you didn't tell me to pack my shorts!" P.K., how very sad for all those families.

Checking in from Kansas, where the "skies are not cloudy all day" - yeah, right! At 9 a.m., it's a very dark, sunless, day, 26°F (wind chill 10°F - wind - 27 mph with gusts up to 40 mph). There is a 30% chance of snow Sunday and Monday. Our daughter/granddaughter left yesterday morning for Tennessee and had LOTS of heavy rain from Columbia, MO until Mt. Vernon, IL, with lots of vehicles in the ditches. What a stressful trip for her. It took 14 hours instead of the usual 12.

Unusually cold here on the CA coast. It got down to 29 last night and the high is going be 53. It has been in the 30's at night and low 50's during the day for the last week or so. I hate it when it gets this cold, not use to it. We shut off the heat at night and the house got down to 63. I had to dig out winter flannel PJ's with pants to keep warm at night. It doesn't seem to bother DH. I had to cover or bring in my tropical plants. Even the birdbath froze. The birds are saying WTH!

It's so interesting to hear how cold California is. I'm in southern Ohio and I had my windows open last night. It was in the 60's all night!! I'm pretty sure that has never happened to me before!! It is in the 60's today as well and now raining hard. Our cold is not due to get here until next weekend. Weird weather!!

Here in Fayetteville, Georgia it is cloudy, 63 degrees, supposed to reach 73 with possible rain. Heavy rain predicted for tomorrow (Monday). I doubt we will see any sunshine today.

Texas Panhandle here. We had a small earthquake yesterday afternoon, thundersnow last night and blizzard conditions right now.

Sunny and -30 (yes MINUS Thirty) when we got up, but already up to around -15 at 9:15. High today is +11, but it will be a nice dry sunny cold, so not uncomfortable.

Texas_Gem, how close to Amarillo/Canyon area are you? We were out some yesterday afternoon making sure we had all vehicles full of fuel and extra diesel for the tractor, etc. I didn't notice any indication of an earthquake, but that's not unusual if we were not right on top of where it struck. Yep, blizzard conditions right now, but thank goodness, not as bad as the Blizzard of 1971 here or the one just a few years ago - 2009 I think.

PKponder, sorry to hear about the loss of life in your area due to the storms. It seems as though your area has really been hit hard this year with them. I think that the severe weather patterns have moved east here in Texas from where they use to be mainly concentrated. We stopped at a wreck that had just occurred on the road south of our section yesterday afternoon on the way home. A young man had suffered a seizure and his car hit a 6" pipe corner fence post in a field. The force pushed the post and concrete up out of the ground and then broke the post at the top of the concrete. Hard to believe, but he wasn't injured. He was still very confused and unable to focus normally when we reached him. Our emergency services are so good here - there was 2 fire rescue units, 1 deputy sheriff, 2 Tx. Dept. of Public troopers and 1 of our large major trauma ambulances that responded.

Sunny and about 20 degrees here in St. Paul/ Minneapolis. Only a little snow on the ground but lots of it predicted for later this week. Quite unusual.

Wet and Grey north of Chicago. The sky is only a few feet above the top of the house! (Looks and feels that way.) You could fire a cannon down our town's main streets -- everyone clears out to sun or skiing after the last day of school. (Only us 'poor folk' left to wander at will.)

Rain gauge shows 3.5" of rain yesterday in the fog and md-50s.

Now the wind is here. About 40 degrees, but the wind cuts through a person.

I just checked the forecast. Another inch+ of rain tomorrow!

It is 28 degrees now with a high of 30. We have a chance of snow starting at 1:00 today and going all the way through Monday. My mil leaves at 10:00 tomorrow morning, so hopefully her flight will be okay. We woke up to a cold house (60 degrees), called our furnace guy and got it going again.

It has been an unusually chilly fall and winter in coastal southern California so far. Our daughter and her family moved today from Los Angeles to the Ft. Worth suburbs. Glad they will land later today in Dallas with only a little rain left for the night and clearing tomorrow. Tomorrow, their moving van delivers their furniture to their rental. School starts in a week, so she has set being organized by then as her goal. Her in-laws will arrive from Louisiana to help them the first few days. Then she is on her own as the boys start at their new schools and her DH heads off to Singapore on a business trip. She has been a real trooper with a whirlwind selling, packing, and moving to their new home. "The stars at night are big and bright..."

Right now it is -4C, but feels like -8C, which is actually toasty compared to what it was Christmas Day. :) We had a white Christmas, there's still a lot of snow on the ground.

Here in So. Oregon it is still trying to snow on the valley floor, while the foothills and Mountains are giving skiers a treat after no snow for a couple of years. Rain and more rain in our future, and hovering temps keeping things the same, same, same.

After messing with my driveway today looked at the thermometer on my deck, 80 , figured it was a good time to get into some shorts and fire up the grill. I've never seen it this warm here at this time of year, supposed to get colder at the end of the week

Just the same as the other Kansas gals...cold, terribly windy, and ice and heavy snow coming my way! Went to the store to get things to make soup....and praying this wind goes down before it storms or we will have terrible drifts and the worry if power lines will snap...because if that happens, I will not have heat! I was thankful my grandson made it back to his home safely...always worry about highway accidents because my first husband was killed in one...so I breathe a sigh of relief when I know everyone is safe.

I hope your safe and ok phoggie, I always worried about my mom when she lived in Maine by herself. It sounds like your ready for the storm, try to relax a little and stay in touch with your neighbors and family

gmatx- I am in the Amarillo/Canyon area. I didn't feel the quake, but I read about it on the news and I'm pretty sure my dog felt the aftershocks as he suddenly went crazy around that time.

I remember the blizzard of 2009 quite well. I gave birth to my second at the beginning of March and the day she was born was a record high temp, 2 weeks later that blizzard came through. Gotta love the wild and crazy Panhandle weather!

This morning when I went to work at 5 it was around 0. The trees were all covered with frost. This afternoon at 2 it was 10 and the frost was falling off of the trees from the sunshine and it looked like it was snowing. More snow coming tomorrow or Tuesday. I ran into a little fog this morning too here in central SD

Woke up to 13 degrees F. By noon I could still see my breath. Having just installed a new fireplace in my current remodel, I built a fire....got to test it out...kept it going all day!

what difference 24 hours can make! we're expecting a rain/ice/snow mix today (Monday) then it either melts or turns to more rain later...I worry about ds1..he has over an hour drive from his house to Michigan state U. where he works...

I sure worry about family in ok, ks and texas!

We had 80 degree temps last Saturday before the storms came through and I awoke to snow this morning!

mama goose said it! Rain, rain, and more rain! I'm ready for the sun. Even if it means cold. We've had an unseasonably warm December, including tornadoes! But, I'm ready for the sun.

ETA: I just looked at the river data. It stays around 20ish feet. Today it's around 34 feet. Still nowhere near flooding its banks, but the surrounding creeks are rising and at minor flooding stages.

The forecast was for rain this past weekend, so I emptied the rain gauge. 4.75" since Saturday morning and they are forecasting another 1"+ today!

Farm fields are almost all covered with water. Forecast for Wednesday and beyond this week - nothing above freezing!

We had the warmest Christmas ever. While I was glad to not face driving in snow, it was a bit much. It rained, was cloudy and very foggy.

It's 47 right now, so getting more seasonal.

Christmas day in central Florida was hot and sunny at 85 deg F. The next day we drove home to central Virginia (which was a looong day) Sunday in Virginia reached 74 deg F, today was cold and wet barely reaching the middle 40s.

Cold, Sleet and Rain. I was on the road for work when it started within 10-15 minutes the roads were freezing over and I hit black ice. My Jeep swerved back and forth in the lane and I came real close to the wheels of the big rig next to me but got control and came straight home. Have to admit, it shook me a little.

Nearly 80 on the NC coast. Sunny early but started raining mid-afternoon. It's been really warm so far this winter for us. Supposed to get into the mid-50's starting Friday.

We're into our first bad storm of the winter... cold, wind, snow, and now it's being coated with freezing rain, then rain is expected on top of that, and then it's supposed to be followed by a solid week of snow. It's depressing.

In south central wi, we are digging out from our first real winter storm!

We got a storm come in last nite from Texas! Too funny. I'm in Canada and we haven't had winter yet. I hate it, I want snow and cold. Last nite brought freezing rain and snow and sleet.

The temperature is rising and is now 1C. I went out and shoveled, and it's deep slushy wet snow. Ugly. Very heavy and laborious. The cars are wading through wet snow and ruts but it will all melt today.

There aren't any ski hills opened yet, they're really praying for cold weather to make snow.
