You did good! Everything looks nice. Just for fun, do you want to try putting the bed parallel to the window, with the head of the bed on the other wall shown in your pic, then put the night table where the corner unit is and the cornet unit where the night table is? Might be better than the bed blocking the window and also give a nicer view from the bed. Judy a thought.

There is another window on that wall that you can't see in the picture. I wanted to put the bed parallel to the window with the headboard against the wall on the right but my other half wants it this way, he thinks you can see the bed better when you walk into the the room. We still might switch it the way I want. Thank you!

I also think it's a shame to block windows with headboard but if the other wall also has window then present location makes the most sense. Since it is a guest room, do you really think it is required to have a dresser? Room looks pretty well appointed the way it is--might be a little crowded with a dresser. You do need a mirror but if you have a bathroom nearby I don't think you even need that. My compliments to you both for a lovely, inviting room

Ok, I see his point. I still think the bed won't block the window on that other wall based on what I see in the pic, unless I'm mistaken about the proportions.

if you do something with the window, I would choose an inside mount curtain-nothing fancy. Inagree with kitch that it looks fine as is, but it depends on the view, I guess-both looking in and looking out!

We need a dresser in the room, at least something small as my other half needs it for clothes. Also, the view out the window is another multifamily that is not taken care of so blocking the window won't matter that much. Thank you all for your input.

Great job of assembling a nice room with elements that all play off the same vintage theme but is not overly "themey." It is hard to put together something vintage that looks like a real room and not a set----and you've done it really well! Congratulations!

I have to agree with the others that a bed blocking a window isn't optimum. We live in a colder climate and sleeping with the cold draft from the window hitting my head all night is not comfortable.

Thanks, if you had told me 25 years ago that I would be decorating with antiques I would have said no way. I liked 50's and art deco but as I get older I'm liking older furniture and decor.

I love the bed and the quilt and I think the room looks very inviting. I love Craigslist and I think you made the most of it!

re: beds and windows, I'd like to give the 'architect' of my home a good talking to. We have four bedrooms and in two of them there is NO way to place a bed that doesn't involve being in front of or under a window. It's ridiculous.

I would love to go to someone's house and have such a lovely guest room in which to stay! Is there a reason the secretary isn't flat against the wall? I was just wondering if it is usable due to space limitations.

My other half like the secretary at an angle. He won't be using it that much, mostly just to put some paperwork away that always seems to be where it shouldn't.
