Christmas gift from Joyful Guy
Comments (10)Hi again, all. I fixed the car - I've spent more on it in the past year than I paid for it 7 1/2 years ago but I've put over 100,000 miles on it, with not a lot of repairs through those years, so am happy with it. Still going to old step-uncle's place, but place has been sold and new owner willing to have me live there, as he only wants to use the land. If anyone has any questions about the system that I outlined above - ask here or email me. I think that you'll find it a very useful resource. One of my New Year's resolutions is to get a more flexible computer - with more storage, as I can't put more modern operating systems on mine (so have been using the one at the library for some time). Will use some of Uncle's bequest, I guess - I sent some of it to my long-deceased brother's three "kids" (now in their 40s), as I'd suggested to Uncle that he leave something to them, but he didn't get around to it. Their Dad and Uncle farmed together for several years when they were young while brother owned Grandma's farm, and brother died when they were in early teens, so they've known some rough times. Good wishes to all for the days, weeks and months ahead. ole joyful...See MoreBaby Gift and Big Sis Gift
Comments (21)I colored the Mapei premixed grout/adhesive with just basic red acrylic paint. Just a couple of drops. I grouted the heart for big sis first, and then added more grout to my dark pink mix to make a lighter pink for the baby frame. I have used other colors for different grout, and the paint seems to work well, except for black or shades of gray. To get a decent gray, you need too much paint, and then the grout is too watery. For that, I use Rit dye. For the pearls, I popped them in the grout, waited a bit for the grout to harden, pulled them out, and then E6000'd them after the grout was dry. Otherwise, I've had the experience of pearls falling out, which is not good. Also, it is darn hard to grout around pearls....See MoreA gift from Matthew ?
Comments (26)Jane, I just recalled another reason that brief tornado only downed the 3 papaya trees and not my banannas. The tallest of the bananas at that time, were only standing at a height of 7 - 7 1/2 ft approx., and growing on the other side of a 6 + ft tall shadow box fence. So the fierce winds were mostly diffused going thru the fence and the few tips over 6 + ft were only gently shuffled around. The 3 papaya trees however, were not the lower-growing Red Ladys, but the normal big skinny guys. My neighbor on the other side of the shadow box fence, ( a different park ) bemoaned the loss of the tall papaya's, said they gave his property " a tropical look I really liked. Will you be replanting more papaya trees like them ? " " Er, no " is all I said. Having only planted them trees a few months earlier ( fastest growing trees I have EVER SEEN,..realize tho they're not really trees. ( smile ) ),..and not having enjoyed eating even ONE,..then the 2 1/2 days labor digging up the roots, sawing the stumps, branches up, hauling it all out to the street for WM to haul off,..naw, no need to dim his rosy impressions ! ( smile ) PS : As a retiree, no need to work more than 3 hours a day in my " plantation " ! have too many other " cool " , stress-free endeavors to occupy my time ! ( smile )...See MoreGift from Amazon pop up
Comments (9)I’ve only had this problem (so far, anyway) while visiting one certain genealogy-related website, though. I don’t think it’s browser related (or ISP or equipment, for that matter) because if I close the tab/website, it goes away. But then again, it’s not comforting to know that a vulnerability in a particular web site’s security can get through despite all the security protocols put in place by, in my case, Comcast and Apple/Safari. Nicole: Please tell me we’re talking about two different things!...See Moremaire_cate
