There are some very reputable tomato seed sellers that make offers on e-bay,and this person may be one of them, but... What are you going to do with seeds for 72 varieties. Will you know the seed age in terms of storing the seeds? The seller says "fresh" seeds, so you might want to ask what year the seeds were produced for each variety and have that info marked on the pack, and if all seeds were produced by the seller since in one description I saw a variety was acquired by trading. That would concern me just a bit unless ALL the seeds were produced by the seller. I don't know how much room you have in your garden and how many plants you can grow each year, and I don't know how you store your tomato seeds in terms of loss of seed viability. I happen to agree with the person who wrote above about selecting seeds from well established companies, especially the small ones that do so much to help preserve tomato varieties. Over the years I've found that many folks who buy seeds on e-bay don't even know about the alternatives in terms of the several small companies that do offer them. And over the years I've seen some folks who have been scammed terribly buying seeds via e-bay, but again, I've also seen some very satisfied customers. The choice is really yours if you feel you have good use for all those seeds. If it were me I wouldn't use them for trading until and unless you've grown out quite a few to confirm that what you've grown out is true to the variety. And even then if I were you I'd produce your own seed from what you grow out and not pass along seeds that you haven't produced yourself. Just my opinion. Before growing any variety it's really best to know if the variety is indeterminate or determinate, if the foliage is PL or RL, what the fruit color and size and shape is, so that you can confirm what you have is correct for any one variety. The choice to go ahead and bid on those is really yours alone. Carolyn

About the magnet. A handy one is available from auto parts stores. It is a magnetic slug on an extendable wand. The magnet body is covered with plastic with only the end face bare. The plastic covered body eases cleaning off magnetic scrap that sticks to the magnet and it protects the subject's finish from scratches. A good quality example of this tool is strongly magnetic, strong enough to pick up a 1 inch open end wrench. About optical magnifiers: In addition to small loupes, I suggest adding a full viewer trade named "opti visor". This fits on the user's head and can be pulled down over eye glasses. Several optional lenses up to 10X are available. There are competing products that clip onto eye glasses that can be rotated into position. Search lapidary and jewelry equipment to find examples. About wrenches: A single wrench will not do. This should be a set of small wrenches spanning popular sizes. In the camera bag, include containers to hold charged and discharged batteries. If you will be collecting jewelry, you'll ways to test for various stones, and these should be non-destructive. Among hobbyists, there exists a diamond tester based on thermal conductivity. (Diamonds have high thermal conductivity compared to other look-alike stones.) Measuring the angle of refraction is helpful for clear to translucent stones.

I'm not a big fan of eBay, so Ric is the only one I buy from on there. Gardino's always has outstanding plants - the shipping is a bit pricey, but they're well grown, well established plants and worth the extra for sheer size. I hope to sell some starter plants this spring, but it's been a rough winter for me physically, so it may be a couple months before I can get my...um, stuff together... Others here sell as well.
