Please advise on how to handle one-gallon new roses

I've ordered three roses from Chamblee's and some of you know they always arrive in one-gallon pots. I usually plant roses in the ground fairly soon but this year I'd like to keep them in their pots until next spring/early summer, which will give me a chance to evaluate the roses in the ground and make possible decisions about removal. I don't know whether the soil in the pots I'll receive will be adequate to sustain the roses for another six months or so. Should I repot them with different or more soil, add soil to the pots or leave them alone? Thanks for your advice.
