Gag gifts
Comments (19)I found the tax shelter in this posting when searching for a gift for my brother. He is a tax preparer and has everything. So I just had to share what I did for him. I took one of those woodcraft houses from Walmart- removed the two screws from the base. I cut a 1" block of wood that fit into the bottom of the house. I glued this block onto the base thus allowing the top of the house to be easily lifted off the base. I cut a 1/2" groove in the center of the block with the table saw so I could set a card of thumb tacks into it. This was hidden in the house until the top was lifted off. I wrote a poem for this & read it to him while my daughter did a Vanna White presentation of the house. Everyone got a good laugh out of this and I finally did a complete craft project! It's been a while. Hope you have as much fun with this as we did. Here's the poem: I drew your name for Christmas It's an honor, don't you know To get my brothers name for Christmas Ah! ashopping I will go. But then I started frettin After searching high and low Whatever will I get 'im (Twas wrong to worry so!) I went into an office shop Maybe something for your desk? I talked to the clerk a lot She tried to aid me in my quest. He could use a tax shelter Is what the lady said It seemed a bit off-kelter But there was nothing left instead. So here's your little shelter All painted so very nice The foundation has been mended The roofs' been polished thrice. The flowers are all blooming In the big pot by the door The bumblebees are buzzing And there's no sawdust on the floor. It seems to be the perfect place I do agree she's right It sure beats a plain old case And your tacks! They're finally safe at night!...See MoreIdeas for child's exchange gift...........
Comments (8)A child's movie pass, kids love the strawberry licorice ropes. DD who is 13 is making gag gifts this week for her secret Christmas sister. Tomorrow she is giving raisinets (the dollar box) wrapped up in typing paper that has a silly poem about Reindeer poop. She has little reindeer stickers on it. There are some fun gag gift places on the net. Thathomesite won't let me mention one though!? Here is the poem she found and meant to be shared, silly as it is. Raisinettes could be tasty little ...poops. Reindeer Poop "I woke up with such a scare when I heard Santa call... "Now dash away, dash away, dash away all! I ran to the lawn and in the snowy white drifts, those nasty reindeer had left "little gifts". I got an old shovel and started to scoop neat little piles of "reindeer poop". But to throw them away, seemed such a waste, So I saved them, thinking ~ you might like a taste! As I finished my task, which took quite awhile, Old Santa passed by and he sheepishly smiled. And I heard him exclaim as he rose in the sky ~ "Well, they're not potty trained, but at least they can fly!"...See MoreIdeas for Baby Gift
Comments (37)Buy larger size, one family I nannied she got alot of sleepers, etc. that her youngest son got at her baby shower and we kept changing him so he would actually wear and one was really long and yet when we said lets try it his toes are at the end and couldn't wear them long, they grow fast. What is really nice buy toddler clothes if you know if its a boy or girl. The baby equipement and such are extremely high prices, the car seats alone now a days are huge and like $300 and up and strollers and highchairs, all those things now. The best for parents to do is buy second high, join toy library where they sign for toys for however long its agreed and return it so kids get different toys. Instead buy books, that is so needed, read and be with the child in learning stage but enjoying it. I agree don't buy mobiles or things that parents decorate their babies rooms....See MoreShare your gift idea finds here 2019
Comments (187)robo, for your FIL, what about a t-shirt(s), hat, car sticker or water bottle from your area, his hometown, his service or university, something he can sport in FLA whilst jogging. And yes, I know this is the second time on this thread that I have mentioned this kind of regalia, because I feel your pain, thankfully we don't exchange with the outlaws anymore, but when we did, FIL, ugh, he loves presents, but asks for nothing, then is disappointed when his mind isn't read. Or a road atlas of Florida to look for interesting day trips/explore the area? A NS or CA flag to fly in Florida or a book on the history of their area of Florida. For my daughter, who is a 21 yo college senior and really into cooking, I've picked up a few things at Aldi, all for a song; crock pot, Staub-like pan, Ambiano stand mixer (got damn good review for $69.00 US) and a stock pot. The Aldi "Finds" are always interesting, and some good things interspersed with lots of made in China leggings and toys. So glad I only have dd and dh to buy for! We don't exchange with anyone else, and while some family members feel we are Scrooge personified, most don't, and I don't care anyway, the pursuit of gifts for people we see once every few years is crazy, and I'm much happier donating to our local food bank and no-kill animal shelter in place of those presents....See Moreeld6161
