What disease does my tree have?
Comments (1)The tree is a White Mulberry. The fungus is some sort of bracket fungus, not sure which one, but in general, fungi like this are usually secondary. That is, the branch started dying first from some other reason, and the bracket fungus then grows in the dead/dying wood, it won't attack healthy wood. Are the dead branches in the shade of other branches, or in full sun? Resin...See MoreDoes my new cutting have a disease?
Comments (8)Thank you. I searched for hydrogen peroxide and located the post. The pictures in the post were much better than mine and it definitely looks like my problem. I will wipe with H2O2 and see what happens. Any other advise would be appreciated. I posted a new picture in the original post and am including another one here. I don't know how to post multiple images. This plant came in this condition. Two others are just starting to develop the white spots. I really hope this is nothing. I have been googling plumeria diseases all morning and have not found anything like it. Thanks again. Joan...See MoreDoes my rhododendron have a disease?
Comments (1)You don't say where you are, but if they were mine, it would be winter burn. The leaves that are exposed to sun and wind rather than covered by snow or shaded by other leaves are often damaged by freeze-thaw cycles and dry winds and by the lower levels of moisture in the soil even when it isn't frozen. IME they will fall off when the new leaves open or a bit sooner, and if you look closely you can see new little buds waiting to open....See MoreDoes my tree have a disease?
Comments (5)The picture provided isn't helpful in identifying them narrowly. But some of the wax scales are yucky red when squished, the color of their eggs. But the image looks more like the European Elm scale....a pest here, too. What I don't know is if those insects have the red eggs, too. Other scale have red eggs, too.....thinking of the Cottony Cushion scale, for example. Dan, the cochineal scale is common to North, Central, and South Americas and the indigenous people made their carmine dye by harvesting the insects. Harleen, look up European Elm Scale. You're the only one who has a good look at the insects. Then let us know!...See Morearbordave (SE MI)
