Kitchen Remodel Before/After Pics-Do you like??
Bought house 3.5 yrs ago, this is the original kitchen, room size is 500 sq ft but only a portion was used as the kitchen. We used the old cabinets, just painted, added trim and handles. Built a pantry and added an electric fireplace. Matched panels on my fridge to the cabinets. Enlarged the bar with some of the upper cabinets reconfigured cabinets and tiled counters and backsplash. All windows, sink and appliances are in their original spots. We did have to buy a a couple of bases to go on either side of the fireplace. So what do you think?

Comments (10)Hmm I would say first for tiles etc, but for a lay down click or slot or whatever you want to call it, floating floor, I'm told you should NOT run the flooring right under the cabinets. I was told this by my ex boss who was a moron in many regards but knew what he was talking about in this regard. Apparently you get too much movement if the cabinets sit atop this type of floor. He recommended that you lay the floor AFTER, also eliminating risk of damage to floor, naturally you have to make height allowances, but get kitchen installers to leave the kick panel off - then you have open space under cupboards. Flooring is laid up to - but allowing space around - the plastic leg things that hold kitchen cupboards up these days. Then, once floor is in place, kickboards are put in, so they run flush to the floor. They look just as good as floor will continue some distance under kickboard, but your cupboards will be sitting on a solid, stable floor, where they won't move - movement would cause problems with your splashback joints and possibly with any tiling....See MoreMaster Bath Remodel - Before and After pics
Comments (30)Lovely bathroom. Did you use a schluter system for the entire shower or just the floor and drain? FWIW I like your bath so much we've been using it as a basis for our Master remodel. The color we selected for our cabinetry is a bit deeper brown and we are opting for a solid gray shower tile by Foussana. The difficulty we are having is finding a faux marble tile for the floor that doesn't look either lifeless or doesn't have a repeating pattern. Your floor tiles are very nice although I'd prefer either matte or honed on the floor. Sadly neither of those finishes ever seem to have the depth and wow factor of the gloss tile in your bath. I can't find a dealer in our State with your brand although we are still searching. We may end up with real Marble on the floor but that's not my first choice. Looks like brand new custom cabinets with the expensive upgrade to the paint with a hand glazed or highlight on the door detail. I can't even believe the budget! DIYers, now here is your textbook example...this is how it's done people!
Oh and you will get a big kick out of this....I didn't read your original comments at first because I just couldn't wait to start looking through all the amazing pictures. So when I got to one that shows the electric fireplace (not turned on), I thought, "Oh what a fabulous pet bed nook all trimmed out for a Royal pooch" LOL!!!
The fireplace is an awesome idea! But hey, this could've worked too huh? :-D
