What did you do this weekend? Aug. 6-7
Comments (11)Theresa, hope you get back to sewing soon. The rest of you were busy and got at least some sewing done. I am with Theresa...thought about sewing/quilting but got nothing done in that area. Saturday was cleanup day so not much else was done. DH and I did get to Tims for coffee/tea and a Fruit Explosion muffin. During the late evening DH went salmon fishing and caught 2 Atlantic salmon. Fresh salmon for supper this evening....looking forward to that! He was so pleased with his catch but we totally forgot to take pics. Sunday was a 50th birthday get together for my brain-injured brother....at the hospital. You could tell he was enjoying all the fuss although he did say he was home and later told me he was at a friend's house. He lives in the moment....a blessing for him, in a way, but difficult for the family to witness. He has very little short term memory. We had 18 family/friends show up with gifts and best wishes. Lots of pics taken and lots of chatter. This week I have promised myself I will get back to serious quilting and to watching my diet. I've been feeding my emotions and that is not a good thing...... lots of 'bad' food. ~Geraldine...See MoreWhat are You Doing This Weekend?
Comments (20)Raven, glad Mom is doing okay. First I better get off my butt, shower and dress. I need to vacuum out my car because I have been moving plants around and there is still sand in the trunk from my visit to the Cape. The ooutside needs a good washing. Funny how you don't see the dirt on a silver car. My beloved dark green Honda showed everything, but I miss that car. I also will head over to the Nature Trail at a local college for a walk in the beautiful weather. My garage needs to be straightened out, too. I am trying to do outdoor stuff before the cold weather sets in, but that won't be for another six weeks. I will yank out a few annuals that have given up the ghost and do some trimming. Every Sunday I have dinner with my mother. She is 96. She does the cooking and we clean up. She is incredibly energetic....See MoreWhat Are You Doing This Weekend?
Comments (31)Happy birthday, birthday girls. We aren't doing anything extraordinary today. Jody is going to be watching tv (football) and I will probably be on line looking at horses. We worked on the pasture fence this morning. The mule has been getting out....we thought we had found and fixed that place, but today they pushed the fence down and the 3 mares and the mule got in the pasture with Bane and the donkey. Got that fixed and fixed another place in the fence so we can pen them up in the barn lot at night. I don't worry too much about them getting out and going anywhere....they don't but horse stealing is up around here and I would never get over it if someone stole one of them. Of course, they would have a rodeo on their hands if they tried to get one of them (Gypsy). So got the fences fixed and put them in another pasture back here near the house....See MoreWhat Are You Doing This Weekend?
Comments (34)I am hoping everyone has a wonderful (and safe) New Years Eve and a happy New Years. We're out in Colorado with DD and SIL. DH and SIL hit the mountain before DD and I were up and we met them on the mountain around 10:30. Today was my first day skiing, my legs aren't up to a full or even a half day, so I just did a pre lunch solo run to test out my turns(did well) and then after lunch SIL did our annual MIL/SIL run down our favorite run. It was an experts only run as evidenced by this sign (new this year) but I have been skiing it for 30 years and was skiing well enough to handle it in control and even a bit of style: We got back to the house about 1:30 and have been just enjoying hanging around together, made a pot of chocolate fondue with fruit and lady fingers, and have been doing a bit of planning for the house we are building. The guys played in the yard with the dogs a while and DD, who is expecting in late March/early April is doing a bit of baby shopping online. Football is on, but no one is watching intently. Tonight we will probably watch the fireworks on the mountain from the front yard, do our Christmas turkey dinner since we weren'!t here on Christmas Day. Then early to bed, no ringing in the New Year for us!...See MoreMarilyn Sue McClintock
