Bluestar Quality Issues
Comments (21)CORRECT-bluestar wisely cancelled all the distributors thru out the country and reorgaized certain dealers to intially support the product;their actually quite few of us who really know our product snd especially bluestar most appliiance salespeople onyl follow what mgnt tells them to sell or what product line will get them a higher commission ro bonus for selling it which geerally happens with lines like wolf or viking to name a few.when you get lines like bluestar or even capital its for those people who actually enjoy cooking.i have qualify propective clients as to whether tey just do general cooking or enjoy cooking if they enjoy it then i suggest bluestar and if its general run of the mill cooking then i tell them to go with wolf, viking or thermador[which has made great strides in their product line] we are a 2nd genration cretailer havign been in the business here in manhattan for over 68 yrs;i myslef have been doing this for approx 40 yrs or so and seen the priducts come and go;my biggest lines of general mainstream lines have been wolf and themador recently and will be also again viking since they have smartly revamped their line as well as having new ownership we do a very nice job selling bluestar -we take the time explaing their benefits and functions compared to the other mfrs.i am particularlyexcited about their new platinum series which we display,my bluestar rep is one of the most attentive[steve cramer] i found in this business and who knows a great deal about his product we do our own installs here in nyc only and delivery only in the metro area;we help our clients when they have service issues and do followup with the authorized servicers;i what area fo the country do you live in btw-for those lie buiyng on the internet -its great for things like food ,clothing, books and such but when it comes to major appliances you are better off buying locally for product support and service;that's why companies like bluestar, thermador, subzero, wolf prefer you buy locally its for your benefit...See MoreMirabelle Edenton quality issues - buyers beware
Comments (34)I have had lots of problems with a Mirabelle Sitka tub. It was not installed properly—manual Said it should have been mudded, and contractor, and plumber would not listen to me. It pulled away from the wall and then they sprayed foam under it—something the manual said NOT to do. They had to pull tub out and mud it and put back in. After it was back in the switches inside the tub did not work. Had to have a Ferguson rep out. Didn’t have a proper access door to motor so, county inspector not approve (again, manual stated for guarantee and no one read the manual.). After acess door was done, I filled tub up above jets and tub pulleed away from wall. Now even using for just a small bath—just enough water to go under the jets, it pulls away from the walls, and the switches are NOT working for the 2nd time!. I would NOT buy a Mirabelle again and I am waiting to see if Ferguson’s or my contractor will do anything about this. This bathroom was started a,year ago last month!!!!...See MoreWolf appliances quality issues?
Comments (27)Canbon, here's what I would do: 1 - Stay far away from the dealer who told you that the Wolf line is rife with problems and that there is sabotage going on. The dealer is probably on a credit hold with the Wolf distributor and can't get product right now. I have been told that there are a bunch of dealers in the Clark region who are in this position. And the fact that they are giving you a 2 year old article from Associated Content (where anyone and everyone is an expert!) speaks volumes. 2- Yes Wolf/Sub has had labor probs at one of their plants but from what I've been told they are being resolved and in order for there to be some grand conspiracy to ruin products you would need ALOT of people involved...plus if we are talking about some grand conspiracy on GardenWeb right now, don't you think that Wolf would have known about this first and nipped it in the bud awhile ago? 3- If you visit any other dealer showrooms and you find them pushing you to one brand and disparaging another, take what they have to say with a grain of salt. Every line has plusses and minuses. A responsible dealer should illustrate both sides to you and then furnish you with enough information for you to make an educated decision. If they are pushing or badmouthing, walk. They are puppets to their spiff checks. 4- Amcook's advice about re-visiting the distributor showroom is solid. They won't push b/c they don't sell. Wolf appliances are expensive, but they are built like friggin' tanks, they perform wonderfully, they look nice and they make a statement. Bottom line is that I have 100% confidence in the Wolf brand. So much so that if my mom or my wife asked me for new appliances, and knowing that I would be knocked upside the head if I steered them wrong, Wolf would be my #1 go-to brand. They rock!...See MoreViking Range beware poor quality
Comments (14)Repairing a Viking range for a friend of mine. After endless searching on the web, Viking is junk and their support is crap. All I can say is this 48" gas range is about 6 years old. The only reason is has lasted this long is due to to the fact the person that previously owned the house and installed the appliances did not really cook. So they were rarely used. There is a file with about 4 service visit. The igniter for the burners has 1 bad leg and the igniter continues to run. Kind of normal, igniter order to replace this. When using the oven there is a constant gas smell and the other day they were using it the CO detector in the kitchen went off. I tore into the oven yesterday. Baking burners have holes from the oven glow ignitors running all the time. Then I found the entire bottom of the oven a disaster. The flame guard/baffle fell off the bottom floor of the oven and was resting on top of the baking burner tubes!! It appears that this flame guard/baffle caused the screws to back out over time when it expands and contracts?? Screws are in the bottom of the oven below where they would have been installed. This only happened on one side. Then when the screws fell out of one side of the flame guard/baffle, the spot welds on the "Z" bracket on the other side broke off. There were 2 spot welds that were too close to the edge of the "Z" bracket and they were less than 1/2 strength. I did better spot welding in my middle school shop class!! What total idiots. I will see how many years their warranty covers mechanical parts and welds, as far as I am concerned welds should be lifetime. So new bake burners have been ordered. Not sure how to repair the bottom of the oven as the floor is porcelainized and welding or drilling will cause the porcelain to crack, but probably will make a repair and see how it goes. These stupid ranges are a serious safety hazard and everyone needs to report their problems to the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). They will not do anything for your specific problem, however, if enough complains show up, then they investigate and may issue recall notices? Oh, this is just the range problem, will not even go into the refrigerator door hinge problem. These have been recalled, however, the appliance repair people they sent out have changed the hinges 3 times and the doors still do not work correctly. Not sure is the problem is parts, training or just plain sloppiness on the appliance people?? Anyone who tells you Viking appliances are good quality either do not use them or they have staff that cooks and they have no idea about the poor quality of these appliances. If you use these appliances daily, you will see. Oh, then just wait if you expect support from Vikings indignant customer un-service staff. They feel like you are personally attacking their company. Well they deserve it, how disconnected can you be regarding crap products you turn out and sell for $1000-$5000 more than a standard Sears or GE product that actually works!...See MoreNFT
