Blue Star Range or change to range top ----help, please
Comments (4)If it were me, I'd go for the Bluestar rangetop (not the cooktop), and another brand's separate wall oven(s). First, because it sounds like--reading between the lines of your post--that's what you really want. Second, because the star burners on the Bluestar are awesome. Having said that, the Bluestar customer service issues and oven issues would drive me up a wall, but you'd avoid that with just having the rangetop. I think the Capital Culinarian will be great, but if you aren't going to use the oven part of the range much, why sacrifice the star burner design. Instead, get the Bluestar's burners on a rangetop, not deal with the Bluestar oven issues, and and have another brand's wall oven. Third, you could even save money by buying a less-expensive brand wall oven since you've said the oven is not as important to you....See More48 inch Bertazoni Dual Fuel or MIELE Range and Combi Oven Steamer
Comments (4)I haven't actually cooked on the Miele range, but I took a close look at one and agree that it looks very promising. All sorts of features plus very nice burners and what looks like something that's very like Wolf's "true simmer" capability but a burner that goes up to 19K BTUs (instead of 16K for the Wolf). However, all of the electronics right under the burners seem like that could cause trouble down the road (although I've been looking at dual fuel ranges, and they all seem to have lots of electronics). Haven't looked at the Bertazzoni, mostly b/c of the mixed reviews I read here and elsewhere. They do look very sleek, though....See MoreBlue Star 48 Inch Gas Range. Need reviews or information. Comments (4)I have a 36" RNB and BS vent hood and both I would categorize as perfectly fine and the customer service fine for the most part, but lacking in other areas. Honestly, I wonder if my stove and hood were from Bluestar's Land of Misfit Stoves. I REALLY, REALLY wanted to love the items, so it crushes me that they are not living up to my expectations, especially with all the money and time I put into them. The stove's burner bowls (the square part that surrounds the grate) arrived terribly discolored. They do not have an even finish on them, and it looks like one especially has great all over it. One burner would never start, and then when it did, it would create this huge "fireball." None of us would use that burner. They came it fix that. It still does it sometimes, but for the most part that has been remedied. Yay, Bluestar. What is sooooooo annoying, is that the burners click all the time when cooking. The sound you hear when your turn on the burner never goes away. A guy came ti fix it once, said everything was installed properly, jiggled things enough that it didn't do it for a day, but they both do it all the time. Every time I hear that noise, it makes me sad that I have the stove I do. The vent collects grease that drops onto my counter overnight all the time. It collects at the top right screw. I called BS and the CSR asked for a picture, which I texted to him. He said people were looking into it and he would get back to me, but that was three weeks ago. I also paid for a repairman to come out and show me what I was doing wrong, and he couldn't find anything. It is VERY level, and I clean everything. He said it was a design flaw and he took pictures to send the BS rep. Again, two weeks and nothing. The fallen grease is dangerously close to my floor. I also surreptitiously remove the grease that hangs on that screw, because my husband was against BS anything. We wanted me to go with a Wolf stove, so it kills me that I am having all these troubles. There are many things I do like about the stove, but they are masked by the troubles. I don't think they are a terrible company, and I am trying not to flame them here. I am not that type of person. Just when I was researching, I saw NOTHING but positives about BS ranges, so I thought I would put down my alternate experience....See MorePlease help!!! Wolf 48 inch range or 36 inch range top?
Comments (10)So I will say that IMO Wolf is overpriced and over rated now. Maybe at one time they were the gold star but now many are up there . I have an all gas range Bertazzoni and double electric wallovens but I run a catering biz from my home. IMO Ilke both types of ovens since pizza and bead IMO bake nicer in a gas oven. You need to figure out what you cook and how you cook it. IMO no one needs a 48" range unless they cook for 20 3x aday even commercial kitchens often have just a 36" range . Go to a good appliance store and ideally one that does demos on the weekend, that way you get to see how other choices could work.IMO a taster oven will do the small stuff and then get a cooktop if you love the wall ovens you have . IMo appliances are the backbone of a kitchen and need lots of thought to get right and I always start my kitchen designs after the appliances have been chosen....See MoreUser
