Turned out it wan't Aji Dulce... What might it be?

Below are pics of last year's Aji Dulce plant and pepper pods. I felt
pretty lucky to get the plant since only one seed germinated. It wasn't
until I was coughing in the kitchen last fall, with a dish towel
wrapped around my nose and mouth, that I thought maybe I should look up
how this sweet pepper I was cutting up was supposed to look.

So, the plant turned out not to be Aji Dulce, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for what general type it might be.

The pods were a rich, vivid red on the inside, with medium-thick
walls. The flavor of the ripe fruits was HOT (to me), with a surprising
fruity aftertaste. I didn't notice the fruity flavor in the unripe
fruits. The fumes from the green pods were harder on me while I was
trying to process them. I ended up taking the green pods to work and
putting them in the break room with a warning sign on them.
