ajies dulces????

I got a plant in the mail from a family member in Puerto Rico called Ajies Dulces. This is used in traditional Puerto Rican and Cuban cooking. I am not sure the requirements for growing in California. I am afraid I will kill it and I can't find any info on the web. Can anyone help???? Thanks

I need to know where I can find ajies dulces in the south Miami, Fla. area. I go to the supermarkets and what they have is Cachucha, Habanero, and Scotch Bonnet Peppers. What are these peppers anyway? I understand some are verry hot. Thankyou for your help.

We have sold our aji dulce plants throughout all zones and advise if you are in early frost areas to plant in containers and bring inside or greenhouse if you have one when weather starts to change. Plants will hold if in sunny area part of day and fruit will ripen. Advise slice peppers / save seed / freeze fresh peppers. They hold flavor well when frozen and you get seed for next season. Do not freeze seed, dry seed carefully then place in glass jar w/ silicon moister bag if you have one (same as found in shoe boxes and pill bottles). But to answer Roxy75 - grow as you would other peppers - they are "tender" perennials, so don't let the plants get too cold. I suspect it will do nicely in a large pot with good drainage, standard soil, and water when the soil is dry. If you have only one plant, you *might* improve pepper production by dabbing a soft artist's brush from one blossom to the next (to improve pollination).
