Very pretty. I like the different counter tops between the cooking space and the buffet type space. Love the chandelier pendants too, they make it look classy ;)

Very nice design. And extremely well done. My one concern is that since the cabinetry you selected is frameless construction the tracks on the drawers are attached to the sides of the cabinets and not a face frame as it is in framed cabinet lines. Because of this be careful not overloading the plate drawers. Putting too much weight in a drawer can pull the tracks out of the sides of a frameless cabinet and there is really no good way to repair the cabinet if this happens. I am a worry wart by nature.

So nice! My favorite part is the beverage/breakfast bar. That looks so handy! Enjoy your lovely kitchen.

lavendar... just looked up mermanmike's - if I saw prior I would have stolen the rolling pin holder idea! I also thought about doing walnut knobs and pulls on the coffee/bar area but had trouble finding them, his look so nice!

The tile: I am not a fan of tile at all, but conceded that I needed it behind the range. My husband is from Wales so I thought maybe I'd get some handmade tile from Wales, which I found this great place with these delft tiles that I fell in love with, but at over $20 EACH TILE plus international heavy weight shipping, it was crazy expensive. So on to plan B... I found a pottery place, the tiles were $2 each, I BEGGED the owner to paint them for me - she was an art teacher - but she made me do them! Each flower represents a member of the family's name, plus the "bee" for our last name that begins with B. Very personal without being too personal. They are mounted on a frame and attached with high weight command strips and a few nails so in case I every wanted to take them off, I can.

Main Line: those drawers have "heavy duty" glides on them, I have about 4 drawers in the kitchen that I felt needed them as I knew my plates and trays etc are heavy! I forget what the poundage is, but it was more than enough.

I love the windows but the other thing that I really like is the feeling of space in each defined area. The dining room, the eating area, the family room and the kitchen aren't on top of one another. They each have their own sense of space without being overwhelming. The kitchen, while it seems to be a good size doesn't act as though it's too large to be functional.

Again, thank you all for your kind comments... I feel like Sally Field getting her award "you like it, you really like it"! It just means a lot to me that you like it.

But again, it's because of this forum. The organization... that was a tip from here, make a list of everything, which I did and I went through every plan and labeled where everything would go, and kept at it til it made sense. I am a bit OCD so to give me a project like this was heaven to obsess about :o)

But funny a few of you mentioned "calm", it is such a calm space because of the organization. I just love not having to dig through my utensils, they're all there in a big enough drawer grouped by type, or not having the lunch boxes on a top shelf and they would all come plummeting down on me if I touched one of them. I am not the neatest person when in a rush, which so often I am in a rush, the labels and such keep me in check and make it much easier to keep clean and organized.

blfenton, defining the spaces was the hardest bit. The kitchen was difficult because it is an interior kitchen with the foyer and access to upstairs coming in one door, the door to mudroom/office/bathroom/garage entrance coming in another, door to patio, then the opening to family/addition. I did get great help here with the layout and, again, I did tons of research and reading and looking at everyone else's layouts and all the comments on the layouts, and eventually it just all started falling into place.

You just all helped so much, thank you.

Oh, and the windows, I'm glad some of you like the black windows! I was soooo nervous to do it and everyone was poo poo'ing the idea, but I thought it was worth the risk, and it is one of my favorite things.

The spaces look effortlessly defined. I want to come to a party at your house. :)

Everything I want to say has been said. Amazing. And I like your comment about the calmness is due to organization. When I remodeled my small, old, dark kitchen I purged and created a better space for the rest. I absolutely agree it lowers the stress - except for keeping the room as clean as when it was new. ha.

lavendar, blfenton, romy, all, you are welcome to stop by anytime you are in the Philly area for coffee! However, not sure it would be a 'proper cup' as I am a proud "pod popper", DH will grind and french press etc, I like to push a button and get on with it ;o)

jennbo, yes most of the jars are ikea rajtan, although I got some from Fantes in Philadelphia because they were the same size as the ikea but came with a shaker stopper below the lid. I printed out the spice name on heavy paper, cut out the circle, ran it through the laminator, then through the sticker maker - although you could just glue on, but definitely needs lamination for protection. I do love having the spices in a drawer!

Oh, and every day I am thankful the bar is gone. Zero regrets. (the granite is patiently waiting out in the shed so that if someday we ever recover financially from this reno and I can expand the deck out back, it would make a nice outdoor bar!)

Wow, your kitchen is warm, beautiful, and so functional as well. The faucet looks like a piece of jewelry! I love the wood countertops. I usually am not a big fan of "great room" types, but this maintains the coziness of separate rooms.

One thing I noticed was how much more fluid and bigger the space feels in the pictures of the entry now that the flooring has been made all the same. What a difference one solid sea of wood makes! It's so much less choppy. Beautiful!

Russ, the kitchen proper is 21'10" x 13'10", the area just past the bar sink where kitchen table sits is 13'4". The island is 87.5" x 66" -- which I just realized, because you made me look at the plan, they shorted me a few inches! The plan calls for 67 7/8". (Not that I care one bit, I never want to see the countertop people again.) The overhang is 15" at the top and 16.5" on the side and completely comfortable.

Tibb, the counter is walnut, not stained, we chose walnut for its natural darker color. Since we've had them I've just been putting mineral oil on them, but they constantly feel and look dry to me. With crumbs from toaster and coffee and wine and bar stuff, they are constantly being wiped. So just this weekend I sanded them down to remove any trace of mineral oil. I have applied one coat of tung oil, have to wait 24 hours between coats and then I want to apply two more coats. We shall see. I originally went with mineral oil because I thought I'd cut on them, but they are too beautiful to cut on! So I'd rather have a bit more protection on them, and hopefully easier maintenance, I was bad keeping up with the mineral oil.

That is awesome. That gives me a very good "feel" for the size of mine (when they start it.. heh).. I hope it turns out half as nice as yours!

I won't have a "hallway"/"entrance" going into it, that will be different, but it will be 17.5x14.5 -ish and a 6x5 island.

I love the floors, btw.. very similar to what we will get, albeit not right off the bat. That will be something we hope to add a couple years down the line.
