Sandi-what kind of glitter?
Comments (11)Karen, I've used the pale colors of glitter glue for small projects. I like it as it's a lot easier & faster (& less messy) than regular glitter. I have to tell you a funny story. I used several colors of the extra fine glitter yesterday and no matter how hard I try to keep it contained and cleaned up it still appears in some strange places for days afterwards. Well...a little while ago I was busy cutting a tablecloth up to sew napkins and DH thought I should be cooking dinner. Uh, hello...this is SATURDAY. I don't do Saturdays! So, he was irritable & made me irritable. Which was all a trick of his to get pizza which is what he wanted in the first place. So, out the door he went to buy stuff to make a pizza and I noticed right before he went out that he had 2 specks of gold glitter on his face. Did I tell him? Nope! Then he comes come with stuff for a Hawaiian pizza, my fav, and I still don't feel guilty! LOL...See MoreHVAC Air Returns
Comments (27)So my NJ house actually has something GOOD about the hvac? Each of the 4 upstairs bedrooms has its own return. They are not cut through to the hall. The mbr one goes up onto the attic as does the hall one (I think) and they must join up together to go down to the basement. I think 2 of the br are back to back and go down to join up with one from the dining room, which seems to line up with one br. Not sure where the other one br return goes. Now you have me wondering. I have pretty high door undercuts. I never knew there was a reason for that. I thought it was poor workmanship with measuring! I though poor air return was leading to humidity in my house. I have been Having high humidity in the house, might be because it's not hot enough for the ac to run for long. I've been running it to try to lower the humidity. I think my air sealing is part of the problem (though it helped with humidity in the winter!). He checked the return flow this week by drilling a hole and sticking some measurement tube in. I think he said it was a 2 (?) but that it could be higher. Anyway, I have never noticed the return vents the op showed. I will have to pay attention to homes I visit because now I am curious....See MoreDoes Everything Christmas HAVE to be "Dusted with Glitter?
Comments (25)Lol, LKplatow, I have been haunting Lowes since mid October, looking for the beautiful pinecone ornaments Allison bought there last year. So far, nada--- and no felted anything at my Lowe's, either. But we have the decidedly "downscale" version of the store that goes in poor / rural areas. Maybe I will check in on one in Atlanta....I love felted anything. Annie, what if they started adding glitter to litter,,,, What a terrible result for your table, cindylu, and another in my list of what not to buy. Every year I see perfectly innocent live poinsettias tarted up with the addition of glitter and cannot understand why someone would try to jazz up a plant. You're lucky to have Mr. Fox, the foxes pad! Both DH and I are very DIY challenged. I will gladly read a book on how to do anything, but am all thumbs when it comes to the actual execution of an idea. And let's just say DH is not allowed to use power tools ðÂÂÂ...See MoreRefinishing Hardwood Floors Question
Comments (0)Last year I bought a house built in 2003 with beautiful oak hardwood floors. My only problem is that there are many layers of some sort of shiny clear finish on this floor, and trapped within these layers is all kinds of actual dirt and assorted crap. The home was previously owned by an elderly woman who couldn’t see well. I am guessing she had a love affair with Mop-N-Glo, or something similar. As far as I can tell she just kept putting down more Mop-N-Glo (or whatever) on top of the dirt. The floors shine beautifully in the sunlight and if there wasn’t obvious crap also reflecting in the sunlight I’d be inclined to leave well enough alone. (She fancied herself an artist, and also loved glitter. Trapped within this clear coat of whatever is glitter. Everywhere. There are also paint splatters, and actual little mounds of actual dirt. It’s driving me crazy.) The floor itself is in great condition, so I was hoping a screen and top coat would work. I’m fine with the color of them. But as I was poking around on the internet, I saw something that said a screen/top-coat won’t work if it goes on top of a product like Mop-N-Glo…? If I have to do a full sanding…how bad is it, really? I have forced air heating and I have visions of dust coating everything in my house. It sound like between the dust, debris, and smells, I will have to move out of the house for a week or two, yes? I appreciate any thoughts on how to best deal with this, and thank you!...See MoreOutsidePlaying
