I have the Thermador Freedom towers.... I was never offered a extended warranty!!!! I'm on Freezer #2 & the repair guy was just out. It's not the first time on unit #2. I called the customer service line and asked about a extended warranty and was told the dealer offeres them. The repair guy tells me that they don't offer exten warrantys on built-in's. But like I said I was never offered one! I'm afraid of my FREEZER... I'm not a betting person... but I would BET there will be another service call in the future!!! I'm just about at the end of my warranty! I've had the units 2yrs the frig is great.... the freezer not so great. Like I said I'm on freezer unit #2 and a new Ice maker has been ordered. The dispencer lights up... but no water comes out & no ice is being made. Of course you don't "need" the extended warranty. But the warranty on the Thermador is 2yrs....... a service call is $79.00 + parts after that. Good luck

We bought our Miele 5 year warranty on the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. When we save enough for the Miele Fridge and Freezer I want, we'll put the 5year on them as well. The cost of the warranty (five years) is negligible compared to one service call. My "old" Miele Washer/Dryer (seven years old) were gone thru by Miele and totally reconditioned before I gave them to my daughter. I replaced ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that even "seemed" worn or as though it "might" fail in the next year or so, including screw covers and cosmetic only parts. The total cost of that "complete refurb" was only about $550 parts and labor & AFTER spending that money for the "complete refurb" my factory service rep certified to Miele corporate what had been done/replaced/etc., and they allowed me to buy a five year warranty on the old machines! I was amazed! So for a little over a grand out of daddies' pocket, my kid got a "like new" set of Miele's that are under full warranty for five more years. How many manufacturers would even consider such a thing? Damned few in my experience. Immer Besser! (Forever Better - the Miele Motto in German) However in the UK, Miele offers a 10 year warranty on their "top of the range" (read most expensive) machines. Standard, not at extra cost. Pity they don't do that here, yet!

The 5 year warranty from Miele - which expires tomorrow night - doesn't seem to be well known outside of Miele itself. I originally found out about it when visiting Miele's own local design center in central NJ. They told me the offer was national. I bought my unit from a dealer just west of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. The dealer didn't know about the warranty offer and had to contact Miele to verify. It's real - and it is national. Miele also requires that DWs be installed by their own "Miele Concierge" service (Miele's own employees) - I suppose so they can guarantee the installation. Two very competent techs did mine, then took photos, did a test run, and registered the unit with Miele's customer service. I think Miele wants to control the experience end-to-end. They also called twice and guaranteed a two hour time period for the installation; then called 20 minutes before arriving to let me know they were on the way. Impressively different from other experiences I've suffered through over the years. They verified that I had the 5 year warranty - and seemed to be trying to guarantee that I wouldn't have to use it (fingers crossed).

You are automatically covered for one year from date of purchase. When you get your DW installed it's important to immediately register on the Miele site. They index by phone number so be sure yours is correct. Once the appliance is registered there is no need to buy a waranty immediately. That can be done up to 364 days later. The link below is where the Miele warantys can be purchased directly from Miele. I would not purchase through AJ Madison. If you do it on black friday (coming up in a few weeks) and call them and ask for a 10% discount code they will probably give it to you. They gave me one. This is the only place I would recommend purchasing a waranty from Miele -- no matter what anyone says. If you purchase any other way you can get a third party. It is confusing because some areas of the country do not have the direct factory service and Miele confirms it. I was caught in this once once.
