She had fun making the jam and liked eating it, but I think her FAVOURITE part was when I gave her the sheet of labels and told her to label the jars. She gave each jar a different name in a different colour of marker! (THere was "Audrey's Perfect Peach Jam" and "A & Z Yummy Jam" and "Picton Jam" (that's the town where I live) and some with French names (she lives in Montreal). It clearly had never occurred to her to do anything as boring as name them all the same thing.... Enjoy the spicy jam. Sounds FAB! Comments (21)I have full bullnose, no seam. And yes, there is the issue with water run off but it's not like I don't KNOW when there's a spill and I just clean it up. It's not really a problem. However, I do have the eased edge in my powder room and would suggest that for any bathroom situation. Especially if you have kids and don't know every time there's water on the counter. I don't go and check the countertop every time they come out of the bathroom. I AM finding though that I actually like the look of the eased edge better than my full bullnose. It makes the granite look thicker and I'm wishing I'd just gone with the eased edge everywhere. In short, go with what YOU like for the kitchen, but for bathrooms I highly reccomend a simple eased edge....See MoreHow did you use granite leftovers?
Comments (18)Sink cutouts and a couple of other small remnants went to Columbia Gorge Stoneworks so they could make wall plates for us: Most of the big pieces got used for our fireplace surround: But there wasn't a big enough piece to do the hearth extension so we bought a small black slab for that (and I think the black hearth looks better than doing it all with the Azul do Mar quartzite would). But now we have just as much left over black stone as the quartzite remnants that we used for the surround. We still have the rangetop cut out which might become a vanity counter for our powder room....See MoreWhat kind of support did you use for your breakfast bar/island?
Comments (1)I have the same set up and my contractor installed two heavy-duty steel L-shaped brackets. One end of the L is hidden beneath the drywall (attached to a stud) and the other is underneath the counter, so it's invisible. I didn't want legs or corbels as they would interfere with the limited seating area. We just made sure that the brackets were strong enough to support the weight (estimated 150 - 200 lbs.)....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
