Seems pretty clear that you need to think about how you use a sink before deciding on which type of sink. What works for one person won't work for another. Many on the kitchen forum insist that a large one bowl is the way to go and, I'm sure for them, it is. I have both (a large one bowl at the lake and divided in the city) and, for the way I use my sink, the double bowl works best. Our divided sink in the city has one small bowl and a larger bowl and find that is ideal for us. I also prefer a stainless sink for looks and because I'm pretty hard on sinks and I think SS takes abuse well.

Why not have Ikea help with the design their designers are the most knowlegable about their product. I have the old ones from them in a the high gloss white and they still look like new 11 yrs later. I use Ikea in many of my design projects with great results.

being that you & family are not huge cooks, consider a speed oven, which is smaller than a full size and put a full size oven below it. that's what we have for a family of 5 and it has worked out great, no regrets!! speed oven is also a microwave/broiler/roaster... etc. we have one and use it multiple times a day. it heats faster than the full size and most times we really don't need the full-size. its used more than the full-size. also, look into induction. safer, faster, easier to clean. and with kids that a huge plus in my book. i also like the cooktop b/c you put all your pots and pans underneath, so convenient. Cooktops are also great b/c you have no oven underneath, so no heat escape when cooking and i like having the ovens apart from the cooktop so others can help in the kitchen. or more bluntly, no one is your way while cooking. "excuse me, i need to check on my pizza in the oven" ugh! (hope that makes sense!) FWIW: we have a Miele speed oven, Wolf "E" series full size oven, Miele 36" induction cooktop and Miele DW.
